  • Patent number: 6289766
Abstract: A foot-operated parkin brake apparatus for a vehicle has a base plate, a pedal lever, a sector gear, and a locking pawl. The base plate has a pivot and is fixed with respect to the body of the vehicle. The pedal lever is rotatably supported by the base plate. By stepping on the pedal lever, the parking brake is applied. The sector gear is provided on the pedal lever. The locking pawl has a covering of resin that covers its surface, a bearing hole that is rotatably supported by the pivot of the base plate, and a meshing surface that meshes with the sector gear. The mating surface and the peripheral surface of the bearing hole are exposed metal surfaces which are not covered with the resin. By a meshing between the sector gear and the locking pawl, the pedal lever is locked at the position to which it has been pressed.

  • Patent number: 6176340
Abstract: When a collision detecting mechanism 27 detects a front collision of a vehicle, a clutch mechanism 18 integrally connecting a pedal arm 2 to a push rod lever 15 connecting a push rod 14 of a Master vac 13 is disconnected. Accordingly, even when the push rod 14 is backward moved together with the Master vac 13, the push rod lever 14 strikes the air, so that a collision load does not act on the pedal arm 2.

  • Patent number: 5188001
Abstract: An accelerator pedal device comprises a pedal lever having a pivot shaft which is pivotally supported by a fixed support bracket. The pedal lever is biased in such a direction that an upper part of the pedal lever approaches a fixed stopper member. A first auxiliary lever is pivotally supported by the pivot shaft and has a first upper portion located between the stopper member and the upper part of the pedal lever. A second auxiliary lever is pivotally supported by the pivot shaft and has a second upper portion located between the first upper portion and the upper part of the pedal lever. A first lost-motion mechanism is provided between the pedal lever and the second auxiliary lever, and a second lost-motion mechanism is provided between the second and first auxiliary levers.

  • Patent number: 4311064
Abstract: A transmission operating device includes a hand lever connected through a control rod to a control shaft of a transmission. In a front-engine and front-wheel-drive car, the engine is traversely arranged and therefore the axis of the control shaft is often located considerably traversely from the longitudinal center axis of the car. According to the invention, a universal joint of the control rod on the side of the control shaft of the transmission is traversely offset toward the longitudinal axis of the car to reduce the deviation of movement of a knob at the upper end of the hand lever from a speed selecting pattern, thereby improving the feeling of speed selecting operation.
