Abstract: Disclosed is a sterilizing and vacuum packaging bag having at least one non-fused degassing portion, wherein an insufficiently fused area is present inside the degassing portion. The insufficiently fused area is lower in fusion strength than the vertical fused areas and a bag mouth fused area, and is fused so as to be separable by an increase in inner pressure. Further disclosed is a vacuum packaging method comprising using this sterilizing and vacuum packaging bag, including putting contents into the bag through an open end thereof, fusing the open end more firmly than the insufficiently fused area, performing microwave heating, separating films fused together at the insufficiently fused area at a stage that the surface temperature of the contents is also sufficiently elevated, and completely fusing the degassing portion after termination of microwave heating.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming mechanism for forming an image and a matrix circuit having connected thereto a plurality of keys including an initiating key for instructing the start of image formation and a stop key for interrupting image formation. The image forming apparatus further includes a controller for controlling image formation by the image forming mechanism in accordance with a control sequence and a memory containing a program for sensing key input of the matrix circuit. Prior to the start of image formation, the controller executes the program for sensing key input of the matrix circuit and executes the control sequence in response to the sensing input of the initiating key. During image formation, the controller executes the program for sensing key input of the matrix circuit such that sensing whether the stop key has been input is executed without sensing whether the initiating key has been input.
Abstract: A document scanning apparatus includes a first scanner for reciprocating an optical member and for exposing an original document put on a document platen, and a second scanner for feeding an original document to an exposure position and for exposing the original document at the exposure position. A selector selects either the first scanner in a stationary exposure mode or the second scanner in a dynamic exposure mode. In the stationary exposure mode, a controller causes forward movement of the reciprocating optical member to stop and the reciprocating member to move backward in accordance with a detection signal signifying that the trailing edge of a recording sheet has passed a predetermined position in the transport path for the recording sheet. In the dynamic exposure mode, the controller controls the second scanner to feed successive original documents in accordance with the same detection signal for the trailing edge of the recording sheet.

Abstract: A process for providing easy-opening of a sealed and packed bag by means of an automatic bag-making packer involves pressing on a side margin of an outermost turn of a roll of film a cylindrical surface of a cutting roller mounted in the automatic bag-making packer, the cylindrical surface of the cutting roller having multiple edged projections for forming microcuts in the side margin, so that a resulting sealed and packed bag is easily opened from a side margin of the sealed and packed bag without reducing the mechanical strength of a film constituting the sealed and packed bag.
Abstract: A portable image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member, image forming device for forming an image on a recording medium using the photosensitive member, a battery for supplying power to drive the image forming device, a guiding member for guiding the recording member, the guiding member being swingably mounted to a frame of the apparatus adjacent an end thereof and being movable between a guiding position wherein the opposite end of the guiding member is away from the frame and an accommodating position wherein the opposite end is close to the frame, and a battery accommodating portion for accommodating the battery, the accommodating portion being provided with an openable cover, wherein the guiding member is overlaid to the cover when it takes the accommodating position.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of feeding or transporting recording medium of different sizes through the image forming path. A discriminating device determines whether or not a recording medium has reached a predetermined position in the transport path and a detecting member detects the recording medium a predetermined time thereafter to identify the size of the recording medium. If the recording medium is detected within the predetermined time, it is identified as being of a particular size. When the medium is detected during a time period different from the predetermined time period, the medium is identified as being of a size smaller than the particular size. The image formation operation is controlled as a function of the size identification of the recording medium.

Abstract: In a copying device for forming a latent image on a rotatable image bearing member, such member has a portion which is not used for image formation. The latent image is developed into a toner image on the rotatable member, and a cleaning device is provided for cleaning the rotatable member to permit its reuse. An improvement is provided wherein a device detects the rotational disposition of the image bearing member, and positions the portion of such member which is not used for image formation in alignment with the cleaning device when the rotatable member is stopped.
Abstract: A copying apparatus has an original document base which reciprocates along a scanning path for slit exposure of an original. The image of the original is formed on a photosensitive drum and is then transferred onto a copy sheet. Copy sheets are fed in response to a switch which is provided along the scanning path and is actuated by movement of the original document base in the scanning direction. Another switch is provided to prevent feeding of a copy sheet during movement of the base in the opposite direction.
Abstract: A copying apparatus has a rotatable medium, processing apparatus including a charger for forming an image of an original on the rotatable medium and for transferring the image to a transfer material, a residual charge remover, a copy setting mechanism and a start switch. The rotatable medium is rotated during the copying operation with both the charger and residual charge remover operating and is post rotated after the copying operation with the charger disabled but the residual charge remover operating. When the start switch is operated during the post-rotation but before the charger becomes disabled, the charger remains operative and copying is restarted.

In one mode of copying thick originals, the original carriage is reciprocated one time for each rotation of the photosensitive drum while in another mode each reciprocation corresponds to two rotations of the drum. In one mode of copying sheet originals the photosensitive drum rotates once for each copy while in another mode a plurality of copies are formed for each rotation. The copying device has a control system for detecting the position of the reciprocating carriage and for controlling the forward and reverse movement of the carriage as a function of the size of the original being copied as well as the position of the carriage.

The device includes a separating member for separating one lateral side of a transfer sheet from an image carrying member, a rotary body, located adjacent the one lateral side for gripping the separated side of the transfer sheet and guiding it away from the image carrying member, a guide member having a stepped portion which extends across the transport path of the transfer sheet, the position of stepped portion being disposed progressively further downstream in the advancing direction of the transfer sheet from the side where the rotary body is provided to the opposite side, and a rotary member which extends along the rotary body and guide member at the one lateral side for gripping the separated side of the transfer sheet and guiding it downwardly at least along the stepped portion in cooperation with the rotary body and guide member.
Abstract: There is disclosed an electrophotographic method and device for forming copies utilizing a reciprocating member movable for scanning an original document positioned thereon to form a latent image on a rotatable photosensitive medium. Transfer material is fed in response to a feed signal produced by the reciprocating member in accordance with movement thereof. In one mode of operation, the photosensitive medium completes at least two rotations for each reciprocation of the reciprocating member.
Abstract: An electrophotographic developing apparatus comprises a developing roller and a refreshing roller. The developing roller applies liquid developer to an electrostatic latent image carrier moving in a predetermined direction. The refreshing roller comes into contact with the developing roller and rotates at the same peripheral speed as that of the carrier and in the opposite direction to the moving direction of the carrier. The rotational motion of the refreshing roller causes the developing roller to rotate so as to effect developing the electrostatic latent image on the carrier.
Abstract: A spring clutch device includes a driving side clutch shell, a driven side clutch shell opposed to and coaxial with the driving side clutch shell, a clutch spring disposed in a tight manner over the two clutch shells, a stop member disposed coaxially with the clutch shells and engaged with one end of the clutch spring to control the action of the clutch spring, and a control member for acting on the stop member, there are formed projections on the circumference of the stop member, in an axially and circumferentially staggered relationship, and the control member is selectively displaceable to positions corresponding to the projections for engagement and disengagement with the projections, thereby controlling ON-OFF of the clutch.
Abstract: A copying apparatus capable of copying sheet originals and thick originals comprises sheet original transport means for transporting a sheet original, thick original carrier means for carrying thereon a thick original, optical means for projecting the image of an original upon a photosensitive member, copy process means for processing copies, and drive means for operating the copy process means. At least a part of the optical means is movable to selectively form an exposure surface at the position of the sheet original exposure surface of the sheet original transport means or the thick original exposure surface of the thick original carrier means.
