  • Patent number: 8325219
Abstract: In a stereoscopic image generation device according to the invention, an obtaining means 11 obtains sequentially a plurality of original images Ga arranged in a time line and forming a content item. A calculation means 12 calculates an image characteristic value Ng from pixel values of a plurality of pixels included in an original image Ga obtained by the obtaining means 11. A storage device 21 stores a project file Fp by which image characteristic values Nf for the original images Ga forming the content item are respectively associated with stereoscopic parameters for generating stereoscopic images Gb from the original images Ga. A retrieval means 13 compares an image characteristic value calculated by the calculation means 12 from a particular original image Ga, with each of the image characteristic values Nf stored in the storage device 21, to retrieve a stereoscopic parameter for the particular original image Ga on the basis of a comparison result.

  • Patent number: 7945088
Abstract: The present invention aims to generate a stereoscopic image that appears natural when viewed by a viewer, without reduction in quality of the image. In an apparatus for generating a stereoscopic image according to the present invention, a pixel value (G) for each of pixels (Pix) comprising an original image (IMG0) is stored in a RAM (23). A CPU (10) calculates a depth value (Z) for each of the pixels (Pix) included in the original image based on a comparison between the pixel value (G) of a target pixel Pix and a pixel value (G) of an adjacent pixel lying in the same line of the target pixel (Pix), so as to generate a stereoscopic image based on the calculated depth values (Z).

  • Patent number: 7660432
Abstract: The target of stereoscopic processing for creating a stereoscopic image from an original image is restricted to specific original images. An authentication image creation device changes the pixel data of a target pixel within an original image into update data that are created from the pixel data of pixels adjacent to that target pixel. On the other hand, in advance of stereoscopic processing of the original image, an image processing device compares the pixel data of the target pixel in that original image with authentication data that are created from the pixel data of pixels adjacent to that target pixel, and based on the results of that comparison, determines whether or not stereoscopic processing of that original image is to be permitted.

  • Patent number: 7558420
Abstract: In a 3D image generating apparatus 1 depth values (Z-value) of pixels are calculated on the basis of grayscale values of 2D image data. Next, a reverse determination, smoothing, distribution adjustment, local adjustment, and the like are performed on the Z-values. Next, parallaxes of pixels are determined on the basis of the Z-values of the pixels finally obtained, and the pixels are displaced acceding to the parallaxes, so as to generate data of a stereographic image.

  • Patent number: 7488076
Abstract: A projection display device D includes an acquiring means 2 that acquires a pixel value Cg and a depth value Cz for each of a plurality of pixels constituting an image, a light output means 3 that outputs pixel display light Ld per pixel according to the pixel value, a light guide body 5 that guides the pixel display light Ld to a position corresponding to the pixel on a projection surface 8, and changes the light path length of the pixel display light Ld to the projection surface 8 according to the depth value Cz of the pixel. The light guide body 5 includes a reflector 51 that has mirror surfaces 511a opposing each other. The light path length control means 3 changes the number of times the pixel display light is reflected by the mirror surfaces 511a of the reflector 51 according to the depth value Cz of the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20060087556
Abstract: A device that from flat image data creates image data with which a portion of those flat image data can be viewed in three dimensions, and that allows the image to been seen three-dimensionally by a viewer, is provided. A CPU reads a flat image file from a HD and displays that flat image on an image display liquid crystal of a display portion. When an operator performs a drag-and-drop operation to specify a region that he would like to view in three dimensions from that flat image, the CPU performs stereoscopic presentation processing on the pixels of that region and then writes the synthetic parallax image that is obtained by performing that stereoscopic presentation processing over the flat image. The flat image over which the synthetic parallax image has been written is then again displayed on the image display liquid crystal.

  • Patent number: 6512521
Abstract: A method of constructing, from given photography of a scene a two-dimensional virtual snap shot of the sceney that could be obtained for the viewer of the picture by moving the camera looking at the scenery. To do this, given an original snap shot photograph of a scenery imported on a display, the invention magnifies the picture at different proportions in accordance with the virtual displacement of the view point or the virtual line of sight of the viewer. An animated picture having a very small data size yet having a substantially the same picture quality as a standard AVI file may also be printed, so that the picture data can be stored in a small memory device and transferred through the Internet in a short period of time, which is advantageous in providing animation pictures from WEB pages.
