  • Publication number: 20010015701
Abstract: A patch type radiation electrode is formed in the central area of the upper face of a dielectric substrate. First and second microstrip type radiation electrodes are formed on respective right and left sides of the patch type radiation electrode so as to sandwich the patch type radiation electrode. The first and second microstrip type radiation electrodes are symmetrical with respect to the patch type radiation electrode. If a microstrip type radiation electrode is formed on either one of the right and left sides of the patch type radiation electrode, the directivity of radio waves of the patch type radiation electrode become unsymmetrical, due to effects of the microstrip type radiation electrode. On the other hand, the directivity of radio waves of the patch type radiation electrode can be made symmetrical by forming the microstrip type radiation electrodes on both of the right and left sides of the patch type radiation electrode.

  • Patent number: 5936589
Abstract: A dielectric rod antenna has a dielectric rod and a waveguide which receives one end of the dielectric rod to excite the dielectric rod. The dielectric rod is divided along its length into at least two sections including a hollow tubular dielectric sleeve and a dielectric internal rod telescopically received and secured in the hollow of the dielectric sleeve. One end of the dielectric internal rod makes a releasable-fit engagement with the adjacent end of the dielectric sleeve so that the overall length of the antenna can be fixed against change during the use. The overall radius and the hollow radius of the dielectric sleeve and the overall radius of the dielectric internal rod are determined such that the propagation constant in the dielectric sleeve and the propagation constant in the dielectric internal rod are equalized to each other. The end of the dielectric internal rod adjacent to the dielectric sleeve is tapered so as to converge towards the end extremity.

  • Patent number: 5903240
Abstract: A surface mounting antenna in which a wider frequency bandwidth can be achieved and a dual-frequency signal can be obtained without hampering the gain and needing to enlarge the configuration of the antenna. Also disclosed is a communication apparatus using this type of antenna. Two radiation electrodes for producing different resonant frequencies and a feeding electrode are formed on the obverse surface of a substrate formed of a dielectric material or a magnetic material. A ground electrode is primarily disposed on the reverse surface of the substrate. The radiation electrodes form open ends and are connected at the other ends to the ground electrode. The open ends of the radiation electrodes and the feeding electrode are electromagnetically coupled to each other through capacitances generated in gaps formed between the feeding electrode and the open ends.
