  • Publication number: 20010056148
Abstract: The polyamide resin shaped article of the present invention is produced by preliminarily melt-kneading a m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin and a layered silicate subjected to a swelling treatment to prepare a resin composition containing the layered silicate in high concentration, melt-kneading the resin composition with another portion of m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin, and then formed into the shaped article. Since the amount of the m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin exposed to the heat history twice in the melt-kneading steps is minimized, the gel formation due to the thermal degradation can be reduced and the lowering of the relative viscosity due to the decrease of the molecular weight caused by the thermal degradation of the m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5696187
Abstract: A methyl methacrylate-styrene copolymer resin composition in the form of an optical sheet which comprises: (A) 100 parts by weight of a methyl methacrylate-styrene copolymer resin having a weight ratio of methyl methacrylate units to styrene units of 75:25 to 50:50, (B) 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of a lithium sulfonate having a C.sub.8 -C.sub.16 alkyl group, and (C) 0.3 to 1.5 parts by weight of glass beads, as a light diffuser. The methyl methacrylate-styrene copolymer resin composition in the form of an optical sheet of the present invention has excellent antistatic properties and appearance properties. By using the lithium sulfonate in the form of a solution, excellent light diffusion properties (without impaired dispersion properties), excellent total light transmittance and desired coloring properties can be obtained, and hence desirable optical properties and desirable physical properties and dimensional stability can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5305588
Abstract: A lawn mower comprising a frame, an engine mounted on the frame, and a cutting deck mounted on the frame. A wheel mounting structure is pivotally connected to the frame and rear wheels are mounted on the wheel mounting structure wherein the pivotal movement of the frame with respect to the wheel mounting structure raises and lowers the frame with respect to the wheels thereby raising and lowering the cutting deck. A lever mechanism is provided for pivoting the frame with respect to the wheel mounting structure to thereby raise and lower the frame with respect to the wheel mounting structure and a rod and plurality of holes are provided for fixing the position of the frame with respect to the wheel mounting structure at any of a plurality of predetermined positions. The lawn mower has hand controls for controlling a wheel driving system with a motor coupled to each wheel and a safety mechanism is provided to prevent extreme turning which may result from the movement of the hand controls to extreme positions.

  • Patent number: 5156232
Abstract: An operation controlling apparatus for a passenger operated machine such as a tractor, snowmobile or the like. The apparatus includes an engine cut-off mechanism which terminates engine operation if an operator is expelled from the machine seat for a pre-determined time. Relatively short, intermittent periods of displacement of an operator from the seat, such as when travelling over rough or bumpy terrain, will not terminate engine operation. After emergency engine stoppage, the apparatus requires the machine be placed in a start waiting state, for instance by disengaging the clutch or when the transmission is placed in neutral, before the engine can be re-started.
