  • Patent number: 7312793
Abstract: In a liquid crystal television, a display controller prevents burning of a liquid crystal panel due to irregularity in a synchronization signal. A counter of a liquid crystal display controller detects a period of a horizontal synchronization signal and a vertical synchronization signal. A comparator compares a count value with a predetermined minimum value Min and maximum value Max. When the count value is out of a range, a synchronization pulse generator generates a synchronization pulse at a time when the period falls within a predetermined range. A selector outputs an input synchronization signal when the period is within the range and outputs the synchronization pulse obtained from the synchronization pulse generator when the period is out of the range.

  • Patent number: 5963221
Abstract: An input video signal is reduced according to size reduction ratio data K in an input processing section and written into alternate field memories. The written reduced video signal is alternately read from the field memories in a display processing section and processed for window displaying. Video reduction control sections are provided on the respective input and display sides, so that various signals, such as RHOLD, ADCANS, RACK signals, etc., are exchanged therebetween. When a size reduction ratio data K is changed, on the display side a read memory is fixed on a first field memory and size data is fixed, while on the write side video data is written into a second field memory, based on the new reduction ratio. After updating the size data on the display side, video data is read from the second field memory at the new reduction ratio.

  • Patent number: 4869570
Abstract: A fiber coupler includes first and second optical fiber groups and a fused-elongated region. The first optical fiber group is obtained by parallelly arranging a plurality of optical fibers on a single plane, a coating of each of the optical fibers being removed throughout a predetermined portion at the same position as that of an adjacent optical fiber in a longitudinal direction. The second optical fiber group is obtained by parallelly arranging adjacent optical fibers on a predetermined plane parallel to an arrange plane of the first optical fiber group at the same pitch as that of the first optical fiber group, a coating of each of the optical fibers being removed throughout a predetermined portion at the same position as that of an adjacent optical fiber in a longitudinal direction as the first optical fiber group.

  • Patent number: 4797143
Abstract: An improved process for the production of optical fiber porous preforms of predetermined refractive index distribution by the vapor-phase deposition method is disclosed wherein a glass material and a dopant material are subjected to flame oxidation by the use of an oxyhydrogen burner to form fine glass particles which are deposited on one end of a supporting rod adapted to move apart from the oxyhydrogen burner while rotating to allow a rod-like porous preform to grow thereon. The improved process is characterized in that the correlation between the shape of the deposition face and the refractive index distribution is previously determined mathematically, and on a basis of the correlation therebetween, a process variable such as the distance between the porous preform and the burner is adjusted to produce the desired shape of the deposition face whereby there can be obtained an optimum refractive index distribution.
