  • Patent number: 5076866
Abstract: A heat resistant slide member for an internal combustion engine is a plastically worked member formed from a quenched and solidified aluminum alloy, with a metal flow line in a sliding portion thereof set in a sliding direction. The aluminum alloy contains at least one selected from the group consisting of Cr, Fe, Zr and Ti in an amount of 5% or more and 30% by weight or less and has an average diameter of precipitates and crystallizates therein of 50 .mu.m or less and a tensile strength at 300.degree. C. of 18 kg/mm.sup.2 or more.

  • Patent number: 4889774
Abstract: Carbon fibers are mixed with a metal powder oxidizable to generate heat and the mixture is formed into a shaped article. The fiber shaped article is heated in a non-oxidative atmosphere in a preheating furnace and then, a molten metal is filled into the fiber shaped article and solidified, while permitting the metal powder to be oxidized to generate heat in the atmosphere. For a magnesium alloy used as a matrix, the aluminum content thereof is set within a range of 0.3 to 5.0% by weight.

  • Patent number: 4838961
Abstract: A high strength bolt made of a steel having a specifically defined chemical composition, i.e., by weight C: 0.30-0.50%; Si: not more than 0.15%; Mn: not more than 0.40%; Cr: 0.30-1.50%; Mo: 0.10-0.70%; and V: 0.15-0.40%, the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities such as P, S, etc. in trace amount. The manufacturing method therefor is featured in a strictly controlled heat treatment in respect to the temperature range such as: hardening by quenching from 940.degree..+-.10.degree. C. and tempering 575.degree..+-.25.degree. C.
