  • Patent number: 5933821
Abstract: A causality detection apparatus for detecting causality of events based upon a database provided with log of the events includes a sorter module for generating an event list by sorting in time sequence the events, and a frequency analysis module for calculating, based upon the event list, the number of appearance of an event set pair <X,Y> of a first event set X(={e.sub.x1,e.sub.x2, . . . ,e.sub.xn, . . . }, e.sub.xn indicates an event and n is a natural number) and a second event set Y(={e.sub.y1,e.sub.y2, . . . ,e.sub.yn, . . . }, e.sub.yn indicates an event), the number of appearance of the first event set X and the number of appearance of the second event set Y. The event set pair <X,Y> has co-occurrence so that the second event set Y occurs within a predetermined time period (window size W) after a time of occurrence of the first event set X.

  • Patent number: 5751918
Abstract: A robot includes a robot body to which the procedure of a task is teachable, a teaching portion, an operating portion, a control portion, and a changeover portion. The teaching portion includes a signal generating portion for generating a drive signal for driving the robot body, and a deadman switch which indicates by its opened/closed state whether the procedure of the task is being taught to the robot body or not. The operating portion generates a start signal for starting the robot body. The control portion receives the drive signal and a signal indicating the opened/closed state of the deadman from the teaching portion and the start signal from the operating portion. The changeover portion operates so that the start signal from the operating portion is prevented from being supplied to the control portion when the teaching portion is electrically connected to the control portion.

  • Patent number: 5389544
Abstract: A method for counting living cells of microbes in a fluid sample continuously while flowing the sample using an apparatus which comprises a system for supplying at a predetermined rate to the flow line of the sample a reagent, such as, a derivative of fluorescein, capable of reacting with one or more substances intrinsic of the living cell, such as enzyme, to form an accumulative fluorescent product within the living cells; a reactor inserted in the flow line of the sample and being provided for the reaction of the reagent with the cell-intrinsic substance in the living cells; a photometric detection system arranged subsequent to the reactor for detecting fluorescence emitted as individual luminous point from the fluorescent product in each of the living cells floating in the flowing sample upon irradiation of the fluorescent product by an exciting ray; and an electronic unit including a pulse counter for counting electric pulses produced from each fluorescence from the luminous point.

  • Patent number: 5294938
Abstract: A top loaded antenna unit is provided for concealed mounting within a vehicle below a covering or panel of dielectric material. The antenna unit includes a top load plate, a ground plate disposed in a spaced relation to the top load plate and electromagnetically coupled thereto through a matching element. The antenna unit additionally includes a dielectric member which is disposed in proximity to the top load plate for shifting resonance frequency of the antenna to a predetermined extent. The top load plate and the ground plate are assembled together with the dielectric member into a unitary structure for mounting within the vehicle below the covering or panel of dielectric material, at which condition resonance frequency of the antenna can be free from being affected from the covering or panel of the vehicle but affected solely from the dielectric member of which effect on the frequency shifting is known.

  • Patent number: 5265436
Abstract: Multi-purpose indoor units and multi-purpose outdoor units are parallel-connected with each other by refrigerant pipes, and an operating capacity is obtained on the basis of the sum of the demanded capacities of the indoor units and on the basis of the compressor type and maximum capacity of the outdoor units using a control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5042382
Abstract: A stamp mechanism for printing a message on a receipt or like record media issued from a business machine. The stamp mechanism includes a stud with a spring-loaded washer thereon. The stud extends through an opening in a stamp holder and supports a spherically-shaped skirt that mates with a recess in the stamp holder. The washer includes downwardly extending tongues that engage with slots in the stamp holder and which arrangement maintains the stamp in a parallel position relative to the platen.

  • Patent number: 5013168
Abstract: A dot matrix printer has two print head carriages, supported in parallel, and two print heads for printing a receipt and a journal in a tandem printing station arrangement. A drive cam with a rail on the periphery thereof is coupled to both carriages to drive the carriages in opposite directions upon rotation of the drive cam. The movement of one carriage acts as a balance to movement of the other carriage and thereby eliminates or substantially reduces vibration during printing operation.

  • Patent number: 4990003
Abstract: A mechanism for feeding record media from a supply roll through a printing station. The printing station includes printing means and a platen assembly operable for printing on the record media. A feed roller is supported by the platen assembly and is movable therewith in a direction to and from the printing means. A pressure roller is supported in opposed manner to said feed roller and the pressure roller is journaled in bearings in frame plates. The bearings include elongated slots therein for the shaft of the pressure roller to enable the pressure roller to move a predetermined distance into the path of the record media from the supply roll and to guide the record media along a path to avoid contact with the printing means.

  • Patent number: 4793312
Abstract: A fuel supply control arrangement for use in an internal combustion engine, which is so adapted that, in the arrangement to decrease the air/fuel ratio, i.e., to enrich the air/fuel mixture at a specific operating region by increasing the amount of fuel supply, upon transfer into the specific operating region, the fuel is once increased to an amount more than a regular fuel amount for obtaining an air/fuel ratio set in the specific operating region, so as to be restored thereafter to the regular fuel amount, whereby undesirable leaning of the air/fuel mixture at an early stage of transfer into the specific operating state, arising from adhesion of fuel onto an intake passage wall surface can be prevented.
