  • Patent number: 5594475
Abstract: An ink jet print head includes pressure chambers divided by side walls formed at least partially of a piezoelectric member, voltage is applied to electrodes formed on surface of side walls, and jets ink in the pressure chambers through ink jets by causing deformation of shearing strain mode to the side walls. Each one of the side walls disposed on both sides of the pressure chambers has different operating characteristics. The volume of the ink to be jetted can be changed in three ways by selectively deforming either of the side walls of the pressure chamber from which the ink is to be jetted or by deforming both of the side walls of the pressure chamber simultaneously. Accordingly, gradation can be acquired by a simply constructed print head.

  • Patent number: 4908322
Abstract: Primary and secondary amines in biological fluids are selectively derivitized by reaction with esters of N-hydroxysuccinimide or N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide to form an N-acylated derivative. Those N-acylated derivatives may then be extracted into a polar organic phase and extracted. Non-electroactive amines may be made suitable for coulometric analysis by selecting the ester used so as to attach an electroactive group to the amine. For example, histamine may be reacted with the Bolton-Hunter reagent to form a suitable derivative in high yield.

  • Patent number: 4882631
Abstract: An image reading device comprises an original table having a surface area defined as a reading section, a black mark, a carrier driven towards the reading section across the mark in the sub-scanning direction, a fluorescent light for illuminating the original and mark, and an image sensor fixed on the carrier and having a plurality of light receiving elements arranged in a line to read the image in the main scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 4839514
Abstract: A reading surface of a document is illuminated by a light source, and a light beam reflected on the reading surface is reflected on a reflecting mirror. Then, the reflected light beam is guided in such a direction as to pass in the vicinity of a light shielding plate for shielding the constitutional elements from the light. A lens is located near the light source at a position where the light beam guided in the above direction is allowed to pass. A shading correcting device is made up of a first shading correcting portion formed by a part of the light shielding plate and a second shading correcting portion formed in a body case for holding the constitutional elements. The shading correcting device is designed to restrict a more quantity of light of the light beam incident upon the lens at a portion nearer to an optical axis of the lens. A photoelectric correcting device is provided in a position where the light beam passing through the lens is focused.
