Patent number: 4903802Abstract: A slide type exhaust brake having an exhaust pressure regulating passage provided in that portion of the wall of a housing which defines the bottom of a guide passage for a reciprocating valve member such that the exhaust pressure regulating passage extends from the surface of the bottom wall to an exhaust gas flow passage at the downstream side of the valve member when disposed to close the flow passage. The inlet of the exhaust pressure regulating passage is opened or closed by an exhaust pressure regulating valve provided at the distal end of a piston rod of an air cylinder, the piston rod having the valve member movably engaged therewith, in response to the operation of the valve member for opening or closing the flow passage.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1988Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazunori Takigawa, Ryoichi Suzuki

Patent number: 4840348Abstract: Herein disclosed is a valve actuator which is to be used with a slide exhaust brake system. The valve actuator includes a cylinder casing which is constructed of: a shortened cyclinder body having a length substantially equal to the sliding distance of a piston member fitted therein; and a cylindrical wall fixed on the inner side of the bottom wall of the cylinder body such that the cylinder body has its lower end merging around its circumference into the circumference of the upper end of the cylindrical wall. The heat to be transferred from the exhaust brake system to the actuator is effectively reduced by a thermal impulse at the fixing portion between the cylinder body and the cylindrical wall to exert less thermal influences upon the packing of the piston member.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1987Date of Patent: June 20, 1989Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazunori Takigawa, Roichi Suzuki

Patent number: 4776616Abstract: An improved coupling for connecting a pipe joint and a metal pipe which has a relatively small diameter not exceeding about 30 mm and a wall thickness not exceeding about 2 mm is offered. The coupling is often used to form a pipeline for supplying oil, air, etc. to an automobile, machine or apparatus, or collecting exhaust gas, etc. The coupling is to connect a metal pipe to a pipe joint having a bore defining a fluid passageway, wherein the joint includes a cylindrical wall portion extending from an annular shoulder, and the pipe extends into the cylindrical wall portion and has an end provided with a radially outwardly projecting flange. An elastic seal ring is provided adjacent to the shoulder and the flange. A cylindrical member is disposed between the cylindrical wall portion and the pipe for holding the flange and the seal ring against the shoulder, the cylindrical wall portion having a radially inwardly bent end holding the cylindrical member.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1987Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazumasa Umehara, Katsushi Washizu, Kazunori Takigawa

Patent number: 4775170Abstract: A hose coupling assembly comprising a joint body having a central fluid bore extending therethrough and an annular groove provided thereon at one end of the bore and coaxial with the bore. The joint body also has a tubular protrusion at the opposite end of the bore and to be coupled to a hose. An elastic seal ring is inserted into the groove and has a V-like groove therein. A tubular member has at one end an annular protrusion engaged in the V-like groove in the elastic ring and is coupled at the other end to another house. The joint body and the tubular member are held elastically by pawls provided on one of them in a removable manner and aligned automatically with each other by their unique structure.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1987Date of Patent: October 4, 1988Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masayoshi Usui, Kazunori Takigawa, Katsushi Washizu

Patent number: 4751987Abstract: There is disclosed a slide-type exhaust braking system for applying a braking function to a vehicle by blockading a passageway for an exhaust gas. This system includes an exhaust pressure adjusting hole passageway disposed at a bottom wall portion of a reciprocation passageway of a valve member in a body housing so that the hole passageway leads to a rear passageway. The system further includes an auxiliary valve member disposed at the hole peripheral portion, this auxiliary valve member being biased by springs. The exhaust pressure adjusting hole passageway is closed by pressing the auxiliary valve member with the piston rod and is opened with an upward movement of the piston rod. Impulsive forces acting on the auxiliary valve member are absorbed by shock-absorbing means provided at the tip of the piston rod or by virtue of a double valve structure.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1987Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazunori Takigawa, Ryoichi Suzuki

Patent number: 4685544Abstract: A sliding exhaust gas brake connected in the exhaust pipe of an engine in a motor vehicle. It includes a housing having a portion defining an exhaust gas passage and connected to the exhaust pipe at both ends thereof and a portion connected to the exhaust gas passage substantially at right angles thereto and defining a chamber in which a valve member is slidably disposed. A valve actuator has one end connected to a housing wall defining the end of the chamber. The actuator includes a piston and a piston rod extending into the housing through the housing wall and having one end on which the valve member is supported. A partition is provided in the housing for dividing the chamber into a first portion in which the valve member is slidably disposed and a second portion into which the piston rod extends. The partition has an opening aligned with the exhaust gas passage. The opening has an edge defining a valve seat on which the valve member rests when closing the exhaust gas passage.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1986Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Usui Kokusai Sangyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazunori Takigawa, Ryoichi Suzuki
