  • Patent number: 7827167
Abstract: A database management system has a query interface for receiving a query and a query executor for executing the received query. The query executor dynamically generates a task, and executes a plurality of tasks in parallel. In execution of each task, each time data is required to be read from a database, the query executor generates a task for acquiring the data, and in execution of the generated task, issues a data read request for reading the data from the database, to thereby shorten a time taken to execute each task.

  • Patent number: 7657584
Abstract: Provided is a storage system in which a transaction of a database is quiesced, a pair of a first volume and a second volume is split so as to make settings to allow an access to be made only to the database in the first volume, the transaction is then released from the quiescent state, a sparse space is specified in the database stored in the second volume, only the specified sparse space in the second volume is partially reorganized, and the contents of the partially reorganized second volume are copied to the first volume such that the first volume and the second volume are resynchronized with each other to form the pair again.

  • Patent number: 7421456
Abstract: A storage system carries out database reorganization processing. In a method of reorganizing, a database which is stored in a disk drive of a storage device is reorganized. The disk drive contains a first volume where the database is stored and a second volume paired with the first volume to store a copy of the database. The reorganization method includes the steps of: making transactions from the host computer into a quiescent state; splitting the paired first volume and second volume so as to only allow the database in the first volume to be accessed; releasing the quiescent state of the transactions; reorganizing the second volume; and copying data in the second volume to the first volume to resynchronize and pair the first volume and the second volume with each other.

  • Publication number: 20060085488
Abstract: To provide a storage system that carries out database reorganization processing. Provided is a method of reorganizing, upon request from a host computer, a database which is stored in a disk drive of a storage device, the disk drive containing a first volume where the database is stored and a second volume paired with the first volume to store a copy of the database, and the reorganization method comprising the steps of: making a transaction of the host computer quiescent state; splitting the paired first volume and second volume to be accessed the only database in the first volume; releasing the quiescent state of the transaction; reorganizing the second volume; and copying data in the second volume to the first volume to resynchronize and pair the first volume and the second volume with each other.

  • Patent number: 5318617
Abstract: A writing board ink composition comprises a medium formed of a lower alcohol solvent which contains an alcohol-soluble polymer, a scraping (erasing) agent, a surfactant and a diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment having a median Stokes diameter (ultrafine particle size) of not more than 0.2 .mu.m and represented by the following formula ##STR1## R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent an unsubstituted phenyl or naphthyl group of a non-water-solubilizing substituent substituted phenyl or naphthyl group, and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent hydrogen or a non-water-solubilizing substituent. The writing board ink composition remains stable for a long time while in pens even when the resin content (alcohol-soluble polymer) is such that unclear writing and scrapability reduction (loss of scrapability or erasability) can be avoided, since the pigment of ultrafine particle size is fast to lower alcohol solvents.
