  • Patent number: 6302252
Abstract: In a one-way clutch integrated with a rolling bearing which has a structure of integrating two annular members with each other by snap fit, and which comprises a cage that holds rolling elements of the rolling bearing, and sprags of the one-way clutch, the two annular members are prevented by a simple configuration from being separated from each other by a function of an impact load or the like. As means for realizing the above, a rib which elongates in the axial direction is formed in each of claws formed in a first annular member, and recesses formed in a second annular member, the ribs being adjacent to each other in a radial direction in an engagement state of the members. Bending of the claw in an inner radial direction is blocked by interference between the ribs, whereby the flexural strength of the claw is substantially improved.

  • Patent number: 5433305
Abstract: An assembly includes an overrunning clutch, a rolling bearing and a casing supporting them. An overrunning clutch-supporting portion of the casing has inwardly protruding portions that inter-engage with raised portions on an outer ring of the overrunning clutch in the direction of rotation of the outer ring. As a result, a clearance is defined between the inwardly protruding portions of the overrunning clutch-supporting portion and the raised portions of the outer ring. The overrunning clutch is automatically centered to a rotation shaft when used. An elastic ring is interposed in a predetermined compressed state between the outer ring and the overrunning clutch-supporting portion. Frictional resistance is produced between the outer ring and the overrunning clutch-supporting portion preventing the overrunning clutch from becoming shaky in the casing. The overrunning clutch is pressed against the casing by a spacer to produce the same frictional resistance between the overrunning clutch and the casing.

  • Patent number: 5265706
Abstract: Cam surfaces are formed in the inner periphery of a cylindrical body of a shell. Rollers are moved against action of springs in the lock direction in which the space between the cam surfaces and a drive shaft becomes narrower, whereby the shell and the drive shaft are locked to transmit power from the drive shaft to a driven shaft. After transmission of the power, the rollers are radially and outwardly pressed against the inner periphery of the cam surfaces in the unlock direction in which the space between the cam surfaces and the drive shaft is wider, by co-action of a centrifugal force and a component force, thus a "dancing phenomenon" is prevented. A flange of the shell is spline-engaged with the driven shaft, an annular abutment plate in the inner periphery of the flange is held between a step of the driven shaft by an axially movable sleeve fitted around the small diameter portion of the driven shaft and the drive shaft without an axially loose condition by a fixing member.

  • Patent number: 5156246
Abstract: A one-way clutch comprises a plurality of rollers, a retainer having the same number of roller pockets as rollers, a cylindrical shell having the same number of cam grooves as rollers, and springs for normally biasing the rollers toward the cam grooves. The cam grooves are provided at the axially intermediate portion of the shell. The shell is provided at one end with a radially inwardly-turned flange and at the other end with a cylindrical boss portion having a smooth inner surface free of cam grooves. The retainer includes a pair of annular portions at either end and an axially intermediate portion provided with roller pockets. The annular portion which is inserted into the boss portion of the shell has a smooth cylindrical outer surface dimensioned to be pressingly fitted to the boss portion. Thus there are no gaps between the retainer and the shell at the boss portion of the shell, thereby sealing that end of the shell and preventing the outflow of grease and the entry of dust.
