Abstract: A document processing device comprises: a document data acquiring part for acquiring document data; a character string extracting part for extracting character strings satisfying a predetermined condition for character string extraction from the document data acquired by the document data acquiring part; a format creating part for deriving the respective features of the character strings extracted by the character string extracting part, and for creating a format containing the derived features in the form of data; a display part on which the character strings extracted by the character string extracting part are displayed in a list form, and on which the format created by the format creating part is displayed; and a format correcting part for correcting the format displayed on the display part. The character string extracting part extracts character strings again to conform to the format corrected by the format correcting part.

Abstract: A transmission-side MFP receives a user name, checks whether the user name is registered in a destination user list, and if so, transmits image data to a reception-side MFP. If an ACK is received, the transmission-side MFP displays that transmission was successful. When a NACK is received or a time out occurs, the transmission-side MFP checks whether the user name is registered in an individual address book, and if so, transmits the image data using a corresponding transmission method. If an ACK is received, the transmission-side MFP displays that transmission was successful. If a timeout occurs, the transmission-side MFP displays that transmission failed.

Abstract: A remote control system includes a PC and a MFP capable of remotely controlling an external device. PC includes a browsing portion to receive an operation screen from the MFP, a display control portion to allow a projector to project the received operation screen onto a projection plane, and a position detection portion to detect a position pointed to by a user in the projected operation screen. The browsing portion transmits to the MFP a command which is included in the operation screen and is related to the detected position in the operation screen. The MFP includes an operation screen transmission portion to transmit to the PC the operation screen, including a command for specifying control, for accepting an operation, a command reception portion to receive a command transmitted from the PC, and a process control portion to control the external device or the device itself in accordance with the received command.

Abstract: A user interface which displays information regarding a job registered in an image forming apparatus includes a job information acquisition unit which acquires information regarding the job, an editing function selection unit which acquires selection of an editing function to the information regarding the job by a user, a job information editing unit which carries out the selected editing function to the information regarding the job, limiting the editing of a predetermined item of the information regarding the job, and a job information display unit which displays the edited job information.

Abstract: A detector detects a first key information piece embedded on one side of one sheet or more than one respective sheets from which image data is read out by a reader, and a second key information piece embedded on the other side thereof or on another sheet. And a comparator compares to each other, the detected first and second key information pieces and judges whether or not these key information pieces are related to each other. Then, a controller permits an output portion to output image data read out from all judgment target sheets if it is judged about all these respective sheets that the first and second key information pieces are related to each other, meanwhile the controller prohibits the output portion from outputting image data read out from one sheet if it is judged about this sheet that those key information pieces are not related to each other.

Abstract: In the case where an attribute of a general-purpose file to be processed is an attribute inhibiting printing, an MFP selects a transmission function, which is one of output functions of the MFP, as a function that can be performed (selected) in response to an output instruction, and displays a screen for transmission. In the case of an attribute permitting a document assembly function, the MFP determines that a bind function is a function that can be performed (selected), and displays a screen for the function. In the case of an attribute inhibiting the document assembly function, the MFP determines that a function of adding information to a file, which is one of the output functions of the MFP that does not implement the document assembly function, is a function that can be performed (selected), and displays a screen for the function.

Abstract: There is provided a data transmission apparatus, an image processing apparatus and a program, capable of preventing data from being transmitted to a destination to which the data should not be transmitted, in the case where there is a possibility that the data is forwarded to a destination other than the destination designated at the time of the transmission. When an address designated as a transmission destination has a possibility that data is forwarded to another address, such as an address of a mailing list, a forward destination information determining/acquiring unit acquires the information of the forward destination. When the forward destination includes the address that does not correspond to the transmission-permitted address held in a transmission-permitted address holder unit, an e-mail transmission canceling unit cancels the transmission to the address to which the transmission is not permitted.

Abstract: A search site on a network performs information search by a keyword. When a Web page is selected among those detected by the information search, the keyword, a text in the selected Web page and the Web page's address are interconnected and recorded as one search record in a recording device. And then, it is judged whether or not there exist in one or more then one document, any words that match any keywords included in the search records recorded in the recording device. If there exists a word that matches a keyword, the display data to display the document with just a part of the text as least and/or the Web page's address included in the same search record as the keyword, is created, and a job is executed using the display data.

Abstract: An information terminal capable of transmitting a file to another device includes a display unit; a storage unit for storing a relationship between an image and a transmission destination; a designation unit for designating the image as a standby image of the display unit; an operation unit for receiving an operation to instruct transmission of the file; and a processing unit for performing a process of transmitting the file to another device in accordance with the operation. The processing unit performs a process of specifying, as a transmission destination of the file, the transmission destination related to the image set as the standby image in the display unit at a time when the operation unit receives the operation, for transmitting the file.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprises an image data input portion that inputs image data and a text data input portion that inputs text data. The text data inputted by the text data input portion is converted into voice data by a voice data converter, and this obtained voice data and the image data inputted by the image data input portion are connected to each other by a connector, and then a file including the voice data and the image data connected to each other is created.

Abstract: A communication system and a communication method for permitting a user of a cell-phone to receive data in a non-service area via an MFP. When the communication condition between a base station and a cell-phone becomes bad, the base station sends a map showing the current position of the cell-phone and the locations of nearby MFPs to the cell-phone. The user of the cell-phone selects one from the MFPs on the map and notifies the base station of the selected MFP. The base station sends an e-mail addressed to the cell-phone to the selected MFP, and the MFP stores the e-mail therein. The user of the cell-phone makes an access to the MFP by short-distance wireless communication to receive the e-mail.

Abstract: A retrieval system comprises an image forming apparatus having a box which is a data storage area and a terminal device for retrieval, which is connected to the image forming apparatus via a network, and retrieves information stored in the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus has a storage part for storing bookmark information including list information of item names of items in an electronic document file stored in the box and a transmission part for transmitting the bookmark information to the terminal device.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus, a management system and a computer program product are disclosed that enable firmware that controls operations of the image processing apparatus to be updated appropriately, even when, for example, an initial setting in the image processing apparatus has been changed. Firmware in the image processing apparatus is stored in a rewritable storage device such as a flash ROM, and is updated by transmitting a new firmware to the image processing apparatus and rewriting the contents of the storage device. The new firmware is transmitted together with a control program (including script) that describes processing to be executed in the image processing apparatus before and/or after updating the firmware.

Abstract: In order to enable a user to easily and quickly set the processing mode, the user interface device sets the processing mode for job execution in an image processing apparatus. This user interface device includes specifying means that specifies the processing modes presented to the user prior to processing mode setting as presentation processing modes, generating means that generates presentation preview images indicating processing results when the image data is processed using the presentation processing modes, display means that displays the generated presentation preview images, and setting means that sets in the image processing apparatus the processing modes corresponding to the displayed presentation preview images.
