  • Publication number: 20060193130
Abstract: Provided is an LED lighting system with a smaller heat resistance of the LED, which can be produced by simpler mounting steps and is capable of three-dimensionally arranging the LEDs depending on required directivity of each system. A plurality of LEDs 2 are mounted on an FPC 1 which has a radial shape and can be flat when developed. The LEDs 2 connected by printed wiring to each other and linked to terminals 3 and 4 are attached on a surface of a core 5 made of a material having a high thermal conductivity. Heat generated at a p-n junction of the LEDs 2 is transmitted to the core 5 via the FPC 1 and a thermal-conductive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5931577
Abstract: A series of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) flexibly interconnected to form an string is useful for forming displays with various patterns of LEDs. In the present invention, such a string of LEDs can be readily mass-produced by attaching the LEDs to a foldable flexible substrate. The substrate is then folded and inserted into a flexible transparent holder. The spaces between the holder and the substrate are filled with resin. In another embodiment, the substrate, with the LEDs attached, are held by fork-shaped tools in the space of a mold and the mold injected with molten resin. Before the resin cools completely, the tools are withdrawn and the resin permitted to fill in any voids left behind.

  • Patent number: 5226966
Abstract: An apparatus for providing radial uniaxial anisotropy in the soft magnetic layer of a magnetic recording disk is disclosed. While the soft magnetic layer is being deposited on the recording disk, the magnetic field. The alternating perpendicular magnetic field causes eddy currents to flow in the disk, in a circumferential direction. The eddy currents, in turn cause a magnetic field in a radial direction, thereby resulting in the desired radial uniaxial anisotropy.

  • Patent number: 5198073
Abstract: A method for treating the surface of a solid to impart a desired degree of roughness by forming a large number of tiny indented points is disclosed. First, a large number of tiny liquid droplets is dispersed all over the surface of the solid. Then, a layer of a diluted solution of plastic dissolved in a volatile solvent is formed on the surface, covering the droplets. After the volatile solvent has evaporated, a plastic film containing a large number of tiny holes is formed on the surface of the solid. Etching is then done on the surface using the said plastic film as a mask, thus, a large number of tiny indented points are formed on the surface of the solid.
