  • Patent number: 4869088
Abstract: This invention relates to a ring shaping apparatus for cold rolling workpieces in ring form into a desired shape. The workpieces include a bearing in which an inner race, an outer race or a pillow is to be formed, a cage and a sleeve. The apparatus comprises a shaping roller, a mandrel and a support roller. Rotational rate of the support roller is controlled in response to variations in the diameter of a workpiece and in accordance with a rotational rate of the shaping roller. A pair of backup rollers in rotatable contact with peripheral surfaces of the workpiece under a constant pressure are interlocked to synchronously follow the variations in the diameter of the workpiece. Consequently, this apparatus is capable of shaping the workpiece with high precision with respect to roundness.

  • Patent number: 4823580
Abstract: The invention relates to a wheel-body forming apparatus which is capable of forming up a high-precision wheel body having the perfect roundness, more partiuclarly, to an apparatus used for forming any of those wheel bodies such as the inner-and-outer races or pillow of bearing, or automotive gauges or sleeves for example, by applying a rolling process before eventually forming the objective material into the predetermined configuration. The apparatus related to the invention is mainly comprised of three rotative members including a shape-forming roller, a mandrel, and a supporting roller, which are respectively installed on a plane in parallel with each other.

  • Patent number: 4823581
Abstract: A bearing wheel body forming apparatus comprising a wheel body forming roller, a mandrel and a support roller all supported rotatably in parallel with pressing force also applied to the forming roller and support roller, wherein the forming roller and support roller are driven via a one way clutch and a free coupling. When the circumferential speed of the outer circumference of the wheel body being formed is greater than the circumferential speed of the driven surface of the mandrel, the forming roller is set free by the free coupling so that at the forming surface of the forming roller the speed will be the same as the outer circumferential speed of the work body. In this manner, substantially the same speed of working is used for the entire wheel body and thus prevents uneven forming, and thus prevents vibrations caused by uneven forming.
