  • Publication number: 20050201041
Abstract: An electric chemical capacitor includes first and second electrodes each including a collector 111, 121, a polarized electrode layer 112, 122 and an undercoat layer 113, 123 for bonding the collector and the polarized electrode layer with each other, and a separator put between the first and second electrodes so that the polarized electrode layers 112 and 122 face each other, wherein an end portion of each undercoat layer 113, 123 is located in the same position as or on the outer side of an end portion of the corresponding polarized electrode layer 112, 122, and located on the inner side of an end portion of the separator 130. Thus, the polarized electrode layers can be prevented from peeling from the collector. Further, the undercoat layers can be prevented from abutting against each other, and the undercoat layer of one electrode and the collector of the other electrode can be prevented from abutting against each other.

  • Publication number: 20050201043
Abstract: A manufacturing method for an electrode for an electrochemical capacitor according to the present invention comprises a first process (steps S1-S3) for forming a polarizable electrode layer on a current collector, a second process (step S4) for subjecting the front surface of the polarizable electrode layer formed on the current collector, to an embossment work, and a third process (step S5) for flattening the front surface of the polarizable electrode layer as has undergone the embossment work. In this manner, in the invention, the front surface of the polarizable electrode layer undergoes the embossment work, so that the polarizable electrode layer is effectively compressed, and it is consequently permitted to achieve a high volume capacitance of at least 17 F/cm3. Moreover, after the embossment work, the resulting embossment is flattened, so that porous grains contained in the polarizable electrode layer are prevented from falling off, and it is permitted to ensure a high reliability.

  • Patent number: 6436465
Abstract: A magnetic paint is extrusion coated to a length of splice jointed webs through a coating head by continuously feeding the length of webs across the head. When a splice joint passes across the head, the head is moved apart from the web before passage and contacted with the web after passage. Objectionable coating portions which are formed as a result of moving the head out of and into contact with the web are scraped off by a scraping roll downstream of the head.

  • Patent number: 5935654
Abstract: A coating method and coating apparatus capable of providing a coated film of improved surface properties free from any streak and color shading and facilitating coating on a sheet of an increased width without causing enlargement of the apparatus and thus complicating its structure. A swirling motion imparting mechanism and an orifice are arranged at a connection between a liquid feed pipe and a coater. Swirling motion is imparted to coating liquid discharged from a pump and then a flow velocity of the coating liquid is immediately increased to a level as high as 200 cm/s or more, the liquid then being fed into a pocket of the coater within 0.1 second or less. This permits shearing to act on the coating liquid, to thereby effectively prevent a variation in viscosity of the coating liquid and flocculation thereof, so that the coated film may be improved in surface properties.

  • Patent number: 5597615
Abstract: An extrusion coating head which is disposed between a drier for performing a non-contact drying operation and a support roll located at the upstream side of and nearest to the drier is designed so that a back edge surface thereof is designed to have an round surface having a radius of curvature R which satisfies the following inequality: 3 mm.ltoreq.R.ltoreq.30 mm, and the entire R-surface portion of the back edge of the coating head is located at a position higher than a tangential line drawn to the front edge surface at a slit-side edge point of the front edge so as to project toward the web side. The running web is coated with the coating liquid by the extrusion-type coating head, and then dried through a non-contact drying process.

  • Patent number: 5458913
Abstract: In a coating method of extruding a coating liquid through a slit of an extrusion-type coating head to coat a running web, at a starting or restarting of the coating, the coating liquid is extruded through the slit of the coating head while the coating head is away from the web, and then the coating is started while a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side of the coating head, thereafter changing the coating state or arrangement to a steady coating state. Therefore, occurrence of a thicker portion of the coating film on the web at the start of the coating can be prevented. Further, at the end or interruption of the coating, the coating state or arrangement of the coating head is changed from the steady coating state to a state wherein a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side, and the coating head is moved away from the web to end the coating.
