  • Patent number: 5467600
Abstract: A thermal cycling system comprising an evaporator and a radiator and two separate conduits extending between the evaporator and the radiator to form a closed cycle. The evaporator is arranged to receive thermal energy available around the evaporator and the radiator radiates heat of the fluid medium flowing from the evaporator to the radiator. A power-free engine is arranged on the first and second conduits and comprises actuating pistons, at least one pressurizing cylinder, and a crankshaft operatively interconnecting the actuating pistons and the pressurizing piston. The arrangement is such that the actuating pistons are moved by the high pressure of the fluid medium in the evaporator and thereby actuate the pressurizing piston. The high pressure fluid medium is controlled such that it flows through the actuating cylinders to the radiator and radiates heat there at.

  • Patent number: 5123811
Abstract: A supersonic centrifugal compressor comprising an impeller (2), a plurality of vanes (13) radially extending in the impeller to form a plurality of radially extending flow channels therebetween, and a diffuser (3) circumferentially surrounding the impeller and having a circumferential flow channel communicating with the flow channels of the impeller. In the impeller (2), at least one nozzle (18) is provided at the outlet of the flow channel and a contraction (20) is provided at the inlet of the flow channel, so that the flow channel is a low speed flow channel (21). Thus the speed of the fluid is low in the low speed flow channel (21) and high at the outlet of the nozzle (18). Also, in the diffuser (3), backflow preventing and friction reducing projections (33) are provided concentrically in the inner surface of the casing (11).

  • Patent number: 4799809
Abstract: This rolling bearing includes an inner race, an outer race, rolling members--either balls or rollers--disposed between these races and rotatably supporting them relative to one another, and generally cylindrical retainers disposed between these rolling members, each rolling on its two adjacent rolling members and keeping them apart. Each retainer has an axially central portion rollingly contacting with these two adjacent rolling members, a pair of circumferential grooves each near one of its ends, and a pair of disk shaped end portions each near one of its ends. These retainers are positioned by their disk shaped end portions rolling on the one radial sides of support rails defined on a pair of covers mounted each at one axial end of one race, and by their grooves being engaged over the other radial sides of free rings each at one bearing axial end. The retainers either may roll on the radially outer sides of the rails and on the radially inner sides of the rings, or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4799807
Abstract: A rolling bearing in which a plurality of rolling members are interposed between an outer race and an inner race, further comprising: a plurality of generally cylindrical rolling retainers, one disposed between each adjacent pair of the rolling members to keep them apart, each comprising a pair of annular grooves provided adjacent to either axial end thereof and a pair of circular flanges provided at either axial end thereof; a pair of cover members, one located at each axial end of the rolling bearing and mounted to one of the two races to define a support rail coaxial with the rolling bearing, each of the support rails having a circumferential surface on the one radial side thereof on which the rolling retainers roll at their circular flanges; a pair of free rings, each having a circumferential surface on the other radial side thereof on which the rolling retainers roll at their annular grooves; and a lubricant ejection hole extending in an axial end portion of at least one of the rolling retainers from an

  • Patent number: 4770606
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor having a rotor driven by a motor for rotation about a shaft which is provided at its one end with an inlet opening of the gas to be compressed and on its opposite end with an outlet opening. The rotor has radial centrifugal compression passages connected to the inlet opening, annular circumferential diffusers connected to the outer ends of the compression passages, and centripetal passages extending from the diffusers. Devices for preventing the gas from rotating in the circumferential diffusers are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4741388
Abstract: A new and unique underground heat exchanging apparatus of the type including a first heat insulating tube and a second heat exchangeable tube connected to the former at the lower end of the latter. Both the first and second tubes are inserted downwardly into a deep hole drilled in the ground. The apparatus is operated by utilizing the excellent heat conservation and the huge heat capacity inherent to the underground. The first tube is located at the center of the hole and the second tube extends about the first tube in a spiral configuration. A liquified gas is introduced into both the first and second tubes. Heat exchanging is achieved between the second tube and the surrounding underground. To recirculate the liquified gas through the tubing system a heat exchanging unit including compressor and an expansion valve or the like is mounted on the ground surface. When the apparatus is used in a heating cycle, thermal energy is transferred from the underground to the second tube.
