  • Patent number: 6955079
Abstract: In a foreign material detector for a sliding door, a pressure sensor is disposed being offset toward a vehicle interior side and a substantial vehicle front side of a hem and being offset toward a substantial vehicle exterior side with respect to a position supported by a bracket as well, in order for the foreign material to be detected, even though a direction of a reaction force effected from a foreign material is tilted and intersected with respect to a moving direction of the sliding door.

  • Patent number: 6613459
Abstract: A master magnetic information carrier has embedded magnetic films that are free from protrusion and recess. The master disk is fabricated by the steps of laminating Co-based soft magnetic film on a resin base plate, forming isolated magnetic films in predetermined region by patterning the magnetic film, pressing a die from above the isolated magnetic films while heating the base plate with the magnetic films thereon, and releasing the die. Since the master disk is a mold product fabricated by pressing the die, the embedded magnetic films and the resin surface portion surrounding the magnetic films are intimately adjoined and protrusions and recesses at the boundary between them are suppressed to a minimum. The surface of the master disk is so smooth and flat that generation of flaws and gouges on the magnetic recording medium and transfer of particles and chemical contaminants to the recording medium in the contact duplication process are reduced.

  • Patent number: 6194025
Abstract: A lubricant film is formed on the surface of a substrate of a magnetic recording medium. The substrate consists of a non-magnetic base layer, a magnetic layer and a protective film, in that order. The substrate is immersed in a lubricant solution in a sealed container. The sealed container is pressurized with an inert gas introduced in the sealed container. The lubricant solution is then discharged, thereby forming a lubricant film on the surface of the protective film. Lubricant film thickness is varied by controlling a discharge rate, either by controlling the gas pressure, or the outflow rate of the lubricant solution.

  • Patent number: 5614314
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium and a method for the manufacture thereof are disclosed that are less likely to result in head crushing even if high-hardness slider materials are used, and which is formed with a carbon protective layer that has good anti-CSS characteristics. The carbon protective layer is formed using a sputtering gas mixed with methane at a greater amount than predetermined to form a carbon protective layer in which diamond bonds are present at a higher ratio than graphite bonds, and polymeric bonds are present to an adequate degree. A magnetic recording medium having such a carbon protective layer shows a very high durability in a CSS cycle test.

  • Patent number: 5576111
Abstract: A surface of a non-magnetic base plate is first coarsened to a required surface roughness and an ultrasonic vibration is then applied to the surface of the non-magnetic base plate while the nonmagnetic base plate is immersed in a liquid. Thereafter, a magnetic recording layer and a protective layer are successively formed on the surface of the non-magnetic base plate thereby to produce a magnetic recording medium. It is preferable that the frequency of a ultrasonic is within a range from 200 kHz to 1600 kHz. Surface fractional properties of the magnetic recording medium can adequately be controlled without variation of floatation height of a magnetic head during its running by varying an ultrasonic oscillation output and an ultrasonic processing time.
