  • Patent number: 7148807
Abstract: When a remaining battery power amount of a child appliance is lowered, a battery recharging operation of the child appliance is not quickly carried out, lowering of the remaining battery power amount of the child appliance is displayed on a mother appliance which is owned by a mother. When there is a risk that the remaining battery power amount of the child appliance is lowered and thus operations of the child appliance will be brought into a malfunction condition, a content of a special instruction is stored into a non-volatile memory employed in the child appliance. Otherwise, while the content of the special instruction has been stored in a management server, an operation may be carried out in response to the instructed response after the remaining battery power amount has been recovered to a sufficiently high battery power amount.

  • Patent number: 6985424
Abstract: An optical head in which a plurality of semiconductor laser chips are adhered on a mount surface perpendicular to the tracking servo direction of a focusing lens. Fluctuation of an optical spot power is reduced even if the tracking servo is performed by the optical head having dispersion of an inner surface direction when a plurality of the semiconductor laser chips are mounted. In FIG. 1, a plurality of the semiconductor laser chips 4a and 4b are arranged so as to have a mounting direction which is substantially perpendicular to the tracking servo direction of the focusing lens.

  • Publication number: 20050091332
Abstract: In a remote monitoring system, when a guardian inputs predetermined authentication data to a master terminal in order to make a request for authentication of the master terminal, the authentication data is transmitted to a firm server via a base station and a cellular phone network. The firm server 15 compares the authentication data with reference data in a registration data file for authentication of the master terminal to execute authentication decision. When the guardian operates keys of a slave operation section 31 to operate the slave terminal remotely from the master terminal, a command signal for causing the slave terminal to perform a desired operation is transmitted form the master terminal to company facilities and temporarily held therein.

  • Publication number: 20050021810
Abstract: In order to prevent a reduction in frame rate of a reproduced moving picture on the terminal equipment side for performing a display and enable moving picture playback under a simple construction in a remote display technology, either a server or a terminal equipment or both thereof are equipped with router-attached graphics engines. The server draws a window and decoration thereof into a virtual VRAM, calculates the difference in the drawn data, performs a first decode process as a pre-process, adds drawing position information to intermediate data obtained in the first decode process, and transmits moving picture stream data to the terminal equipment. The terminal equipment effects a second decode process used as a post-process on received data, and draws and displays the so-process data in accordance with the drawing position information.

  • Publication number: 20040190427
Abstract: In an optical head for writing and reading data on optical discs (mainly CDs and DVDs) with various specifications using different light source wavelengths, the effective light beam size for the light from each light source differs. This leads to a drop in optical efficiency for the light of a narrower effective beam size. This problem is overcome by providing a dichroic beam expander between the light sources and an objective lens, the dichroic beam expander comprising a substrate with an N-stage step- or sawtooth-shaped blazed diffraction grating formed on both sides thereof. The size of the light beams from the two light sources with different wavelengths is increased or decreased in a wavelength-selective manner, so that the light from each light source can be utilized at high efficiencies.

  • Patent number: 6791934
Abstract: When it is intended to realize a lens having a large NA with one lens, an adjustment precision between both surfaces of the lens is very strict. Accordingly an objective lens having an NA of 0.8 or more was usually realized by two lenses. However, a working distance is small, and collision of the objective lens with a disc is apt to occur. A coma corrector for compensating coma caused by decentering of both surfaces in realizing the high NA lens with one lens is added. However, in this case, astigmatism occurs when the objective lens decenters from the coma corrector relatively accompanied with a tracking operation. The objective lens and the coma corrector are fixed to a mirror barrel so as to be unified with each other, and driven by a two-dimensional lens actuator. With such a constitution, decentering of the objective lens and the coma corrector does not occur, and hence astigmatism does not occur.

  • Patent number: 6785203
Abstract: An objective lens converges a shorter wavelength laser beam on a DVD having a protective layer, which is 0.6 mm thick, and a longer wavelength laser beam on a CD having a protective layer, which is 1.2 mm thick. A common region is defined on the objective lens. The common region provides a numerical aperture appropriate for converging the longer wavelength laser beam on the CD. Coma of the objective lens in the first region is compensated better in a case where the longer wavelength laser beam is converged on the CD than a case where the shorter wavelength laser beam is converged on the DVD.

  • Patent number: 6778486
Abstract: In a laser module holding a semiconductor laser chip and a reflecting surface, to perform positioning on the semiconductor laser chip with high precision, and reduce the period of production, so as to realize downsizing and cost reduction, reflecting surfaces provided on a silicon substrate has a step portion, and the reflecting surfaces are used as reflecting surface for laser emission light and laser chip positioning surface, for high precision positioning. Further, in a laser module which requires a high level power for recording, slopes opposite to side surfaces of the semiconductor laser chip in a lengthwise direction have a step portion, and in wiring of lower electrodes of the laser chip from the bottom of the sink to an upper portion of the silicon substrate, a slope having an angle with respect to the laser chip lengthwise direction is formed as a gentle slope, then wiring is made via the slope, thus mitigating occurrence of migration.
