  • Patent number: 6683933
Abstract: A three-dimensional image processing system enables multiple users at distant locations employing ordinary personal computers to construct and observe three-dimensional images simultaneously. In a network environment, a three-dimensional image processing device acquires image data and incorporates it into three-dimensional voxels based on instructions from the computers. The device operates on the three-dimensional voxels using object space domain, opacity and color parameters to construct three-dimensional data and operates on the three-dimensional data using projection processing parameters to construct three-dimensional images. The system sets projection processing parameters for constructing three-dimensional images from three-dimensional data and displays three-dimensional images which may be routed to the various computers via the network.

  • Patent number: 6633529
Abstract: A disk drive preventing entry of air containing dust into a cartridge when a rotation table enters from an opening formed in a bottom surface of the cartridge and makes a disk-shaped recording medium rotate includes a carrier in which a cartridge accommodating a hard disk is loaded, a rotation table which enters from a disk drive opening in the bottom surface of the cartridge, clamps and makes the disk rotate when the cartridge is loaded in the carrier, and a sealing member which is attached to the carrier and which is formed with a lip in press-contact with the bottom surface of the cartridge so as to surround the disk drive opening when the cartridge is loaded in the carrier. The sealing member includes through holes through which height positioning projections penetrate to attach the sealing member to the carrier.

  • Patent number: 6629882
Abstract: The present invention provides a precise polishing apparatus and method in which a polished body is polished by rotating a polishing pad having a diameter greater than that of the polished body while urging the polishing pad against the polished body in conditions that a center of the polished body is deviated from a rotation axis of the polishing pad and that the polishing pad is contacted with the entire polished surface of the polished body. The polished body may be a semi-conductor wafer.

  • Patent number: 6618351
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cartridge and a method that can sweep away dust or the like from a recordation medium housed in the cartridge in a simple way without adversely influencing recording and replaying of the recordation medium. The cartridge includes a shutter opposed to a surface of the recordation medium, a cleaner member, a support for supporting the cleaner member, and a sweeping mechanism actuated upon opening and closing movements of the shutter. The support pivots in a plane substantially in parallel to the surface of the recordation medium when the sweeping mechanism is actuated. When the sweeping mechanism moves forwards, the cleaner member moves without contacting the recordation medium surface. When the sweeping mechanism moves backwards, the cleaner member moves in contact with the recordation medium surface to clean the recordation medium surface.

  • Publication number: 20030156745
Abstract: A system to create and review reports enables interactive manipulation of the displaying of two-dimensional and three-dimensional images associated with image diagnosis reports, at user terminals connected to a medium- or low-speed network. High-speed image processing devices are set up near the network of a PACS server which archives and transmits medical image data, and parameter sets are attached which serve to recreate reference images in diagnosis reports. When users at a requesting department review the reports at user terminals, parameter sets are added to the reports and transmitted to image processing devices. The image processing devices obtain image data from the PACS server based on these parameter sets. Image processing is performed, and the image data is then sent to user terminals.

  • Patent number: 6563672
Abstract: A disk cartridge permits improved efficiency of airflow circulation in a disk accommodation chamber and improved efficiency of dust collection, and also allows the spring force of a shutter spring to be reduced. In a cartridge main body of the disk cartridge, a spring accommodation chamber is formed outside a disk accommodation chamber. The spring accommodation chamber is separated by upper and lower partitions of upper and lower halves so that it is discrete and independent from the disk accommodation chamber. An elastic member installed in the spring accommodation chamber is used to rotatably drive a shutter opening and closing arm in the direction for closing.

  • Publication number: 20030067850
Abstract: An optical disc player executes a focus pull-in operation while avoiding an inconvenience that an objective lens comes into contact with an optical disc, or the like. The objective lens is forcedly moved gradually from a position that is away from the surface of the optical disc and outside a capture range of a focus servo toward the surface of the optical disc. When the objective lens reaches the capture range of the focusing servo loop by the moving operation and a distance between the objective lens and the disc surface is at the minimum distance or is changing in a widening direction, the moving operation of the objective lens is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20020172409
Abstract: Multiple objects having the same physical property within a subject are displayed as distinct three-dimensional images. Projection data obtained by scanning the subject with electromagnetic radiation are used to create a spatial distribution of absorption values for the subject which is displayed as an image on an image display unit. Particular spatial regions within the image are defined as objects, with each object comprising a set of voxels. A density, gradient and color for an object are determined based on properties input through the a series of control panels on the image display unit. Each object is associated with one of the control panels. A relationship between degrees of opacity and values for the voxels in an object is defined in the control panel for the object and used to determine the density. The control panels also allow one or more of the objects to be selected for display. The density, gradient and color for the objects are stored in a memory.

  • Publication number: 20020172408
Abstract: Multiple objects having the same physical property within a subject are displayed as distinct three-dimensional images in one or more views. Projection data obtained by scanning the subject with electromagnetic radiation are used to create a spatial distribution of absorption values for the subject that is displayed as an image on an image display unit. The spatial distribution is also stored as a series of voxels representing a three-dimensional image of the subject. Particular spatial regions within the image are defined as objects, with each object comprising a set of voxels. The objects are grouped into one or more views using a set selection panel on the image display unit. A density, gradient and color for each object in a view are determined based on properties input through the a series of object property setting panels on the image display unit. Each object in a particular view is associated with one of the property setting panels.
