  • Patent number: 7979876
Abstract: In the case when password data (PW1) added to a TV broadcasting signal and password data (PW2) transmitted from an Internet connection section (2) have a predetermined correlation with each other, the display section (3) is allowed to display the corresponding contents normally. Therefore, accounting processes are imposed on the transmission of the password data (PW2) so that a normal displaying operation is charged in an indirect manner for each of the contents.

  • Patent number: 7490253
Abstract: An illuminance sensor detects an illuminance value for an environment in which a display device is placed and provides the illuminance value to a controller. The controller determines whether to cause the display device to make a transition to a power saving mode or not in accordance with the illuminance value inputted thereto. For the transition to the power saving mode, the controller stops the operation of a backlight drive signal generator to turn off a backlight unit, and stops the supply of power and a display signal to a liquid crystal panel.

  • Patent number: 6943753
Abstract: Discriminator receiving a DDC transmission request from an external computer through a DDC control, judges whether a video signal inputted from the computer is a signal of analog specification or digital specification from an analog channel input detection signal from an analog synchronizing signal detector. On the basis of the judgment result, the discriminator controls the DDC control, input channel switch and OSD switch to switch EDID data, an input channel and OSD into ones supporting the specification of the video signal, respectively. In a display monitor having a DDC function which includes a DVI-I connector, with the above constitution, a correct setting of the input channel, EDID data and the like is automatically made in accordance with the specification of the input signal.

  • Publication number: 20030025685
Abstract: Discrimination means (53), receiving a DDC transmission request from an external computer through DDC control means (55), judges whether a video signal inputted from the computer is a signal of analog specification or digital specification from an analog channel input detection signal from an analog synchronizing signal detection means (52). On the basis of the judgment result, the discrimination means (53) controls the DDC control means (55), input channel switching means (56) and OSD switching means (57) to switch EDID data, an input channel and OSD into ones supporting the specification of the video signal, respectively. • Patent number: 5818175
Abstract: In the gas discharge image display of this invention, the peak value of a write pulse supplied to one of two electrodes of each of fluorescent lamps aligned in a matrix form is substantially equal to the peak value of a sustain pulse supplied to that electrode. Therefore, when a row line drive circuit or a column line drive circuit supplies, in a sustain period of a fluorescent lamp to be discharged, a write pulse to another fluorescent lamp aligned in the same row or column of the matrix form, a voltage at the fluorescent lamp to be discharged can be made constant in the sustain period.
