    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a video display device includes a housing, a display module, a light guide, and a component. The housing houses at least part of the display module. The light guide is located opposite the display screen of the display module with respect to the display module. The component includes a flexible printed circuit board, light emitters, and a terminal. The flexible printed circuit board is arranged along an edge of the light guide. The light emitters face the edge of the light guide on the flexible printed circuit board. The terminal is electrically connected to the light emitters on the flexible printed circuit board. The flexible printed circuit board includes a base portion and a protruding portion. The base portion is provided with the light emitters. The protruding portion extends from the base portion along a direction crossing the base portion and includes the terminal.

An edge portion on the side of incident light surface 26a of light guide 26 is interposed between upper and lower edge portions 31a and 31b of lamp reflector 31. Reflection sheet 29 is attached to the back surface 26b of light guide 26. Reflection sheet 29 is fixed on the front surface of frame 32 by adhesive tapes 41 for electric insulation. An interposing width of “A” where the edge portion on the side of incident light surface 26a of light guide 26 is interposed between upper and lower edge portions 31a and 31b of lamp reflector 31, which is larger than a gap of “B” defined between step portion 35 of frame 32 and edge 26d of light guide 26. With the structure arranged above, the edge portion on the side of incident light surface 26a of light guide 26 is firmly held between upper and lower edge portions 31a and 31b of lamp reflector 31.

    Abstract: One side wall of a liquid crystal display device (11) having a surface iluminant light source (backlight) is formed by one side wall (521) of an outer frame (bezel cover) (500) and a vertical wall of a lamp cover (850). In this liquid crystal display device (11), the lower end of the side wall (521) of the outer frame (500) and the upper end of the cover (850) are provided with bent ends (853, 523) and these bent ends (853, 523) engage with each other. In this way it is possible to make the display than and lightweight while maintaining ample rigidity, Also, the liquid crystal panel (100) is not readily damaged by shocks from outside. Furthermore, replacement of the linear light source (811) is extremely easy.
