  • Publication number: 20120182272
Abstract: An electronic writing device includes a light source, an image sensor, a detecting unit, table information, and a controller. The light source emits light to a recording medium. The image sensor receives the light reflected from the recording medium as image data. The detecting unit detects a light quantity of the image data received by the image sensor. In the table information, a light-quantity range and a control object for the image sensor or the light source are associated with each other. The light-quantity range is segmented into multiple threshold values. The controller controls the operation of the image sensor or the light source, every time the image sensor receives new image data, on the basis of the light quantity of the image data detected by the detecting unit and the table information.

  • Patent number: 5818522
Abstract: A plurality of shutter times are set to an image pickup device and an image is taken in a way to separate an incident light amount range into a low and a high luminance and, through the signal processing, it is possible to take an image over a wider dark to bright light amount range and, in particular, obtain a better color reproduction over a wider luminance range. In the case where an (R-Y) signal and (B-Y) signal are processed with a low-speed and high-speed shutter signal obtained and the high-speed shutter signal is subjected to logarithmic conversion and a bias signal is applied to provide a continuity with the low-speed shutter signal, processing is performed on a comparing section, characteristic conversion section and calculating section so that a greater one of the (R-Y) and (B-Y) signals is subjected to logarithmic conversion and the other signal is subjected to characteristic conversion in accordance with a value corresponding to a conversion ratio.

  • Patent number: 5267044
Abstract: An auto focus apparatus for a camera comprising a group of lenses which include a focus lens and a zoom lens. The auto focus apparatus also comprises a focus detector, a motor and a controller. The focus detector detects whether the camera is in focus or not. The motor drives the focus lens and zoom lens. The controller controls the motor for driving the zoom lens and the focus lens. When the focus detector does not detect a focused image through the focus lens, the zoom lens is then driven to focus the camera. A method of auto focusing comprises the step of driving a focus lens so as to obtain a focusing point. The method of auto focusing also comprises the steps of detecting whether the camera is in focus or not, and driving the zoom lens when a focusing point is not achieved by the focus lens.

  • Patent number: 4680636
Abstract: The driver circuit for a two-dimensional, CCD image sensor provides a pulse elimination period before the start of each field shift. During this elimination period, the operation of transmission registers is stopped so that the amplitude of a signal component used for even field shifting substantially matches the amplitude of another signal component used for odd field shifting, such that, as a result, the output signal of the image sensor is free of flickering.

  • Patent number: 4554587
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus such as a video camera including a pickup tube, a diaphragm mechanism and an electrochromic filter plate which are disposed along the optical path of incident image light on the pickup tube. When an illuminance of an object to be photographed is lower than a predetermined illuminance, only the diaphragm mechanism is used to suitably control an exposure of the pickup tube. However, when the illuminance of the object exceeds the predetermined illuminance level, the diaphragm mechanism is operated to keep its aperture size at a predetermined aperture size which is larger than an original minimum aperture size corresponding to a pinhole state. At the same time, the electrochromic filter plate continuously changes its light transmissivity in response to an aperture control signal, thereby controlling the exposure of the pickup tube.

  • Patent number: 4527189
Abstract: The invention provides a color image pickup device in which image light from a white object to be photographed or image light integrated by a diffusion plate or the like is incident on a pickup tube through an electrochromic element. Two primary color signals are separated from a video signal from the pickup tube, a voltage corresponding to a difference between the two primary color signals is detected by a differential amplifier, and the voltage is then applied across an electrochromic element. A spectral transmittance of which is then controlled, thereby achieving an optimal white balance.
