  • Patent number: 8973003
Abstract: Even when an error has occurred in a device that is executing an activity, the workflow is continued as much as possible. When an error has occurred in an activity that is in progress in a device X, a server notifies the device X of an alternative device. The name of the alternative device (device Y) is displayed on the device X. The operator can send a job catalog request from the device Y to the server and select an aborted job from the provided job catalog. The server is notified of the selected job. When password authentication has succeeded, the device Y is permitted to continue the activity.

  • Patent number: 7995846
Abstract: A form display method which enhances convenience for an operator who corrects a result of form recognition on electronic image data obtained from documents of unknown type, so that the operator can properly perform correction. Electronic images are acquired, and form types of the electronic images are recognized. It is determined whether the recognized electronic images are corresponding ones of forms registered in advance or unrecognizable forms. A method of displaying the unrecognizable forms is set in advance. The determined forms are displayed in accordance with the set display method.

  • Patent number: 7359081
Abstract: A requested print job is divided and distributed to a plurality of printers to efficiently and correctly print data of the print job, with only a simple user instruction of distributed printing. Under the control of a distribution controller, data of a print job is divided into data corresponding to the number of printers from which the data is output, and spooled in specific file formats in accordance with a combination of the printers. In accordance with the spooled data, divided print data is generated and distributed to the printers via a network under the control of a transmission controller.

  • Publication number: 20070285734
Abstract: A data processing apparatus, such as a facsimile apparatus, connected to a LAN, that transmits and/or receives data to or from another apparatus, wherein even if an error or failure such as a printer error or an insufficiency of available space in image memory for storing image data occurs, the required process is continued by transferring the image data from the data processing apparatus to another apparatus also connected to the LAN. The data processing apparatus has the capability of detecting an error in the LAN when the apparatus is connected to the LAN. This allows the data processing apparatus to operate correctly without problems that might otherwise occur due to the error in the LAN. The data processing apparatus also has the capability of operating in an adequate process mode corresponding to a process command contained in a received packet. This allows effective use of the data processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7256907
Abstract: A specific memory box is temporarily formed every job which is requested by a client apparatus and the user of the client apparatus uniquely processes the job information at a high speed. In response to a print request from a client apparatus which can be connected to a network, a printer apparatus is instructed to form a memory box for managing the job information in a memory apparatus of the printer apparatus. When the job information whose printing has been requested by the client apparatus is inputted and registered into the formed memory box, the client apparatus is notified of printer management information of the job information inputted and registered in the memory box.

  • Patent number: 7242488
Abstract: A server printing system registers the status of a print job issued to the printer in a management table of the printer. When there is a request from an application to cancel the print job, and the job to be cancelled is not registered in the job queue, the job is set to be deleted later from the server printing system management table. When the server printing system receives notification of a job generation event from the printer, the server printing system ascertains whether or not the job included in the event is set to be cancelled and, if so, cancels the print job.
