    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates, a light-shielding member provided to define pixels, a liquid crystal layer located between the pair of substrates, and a spacer provided to form a gap for the liquid crystal layer. The light-shielding member includes first and second light-shielding members extending in a second direction, and a third light-shielding member extending in a first direction. The first light-shielding member includes a first end portion connected to the third light-shielding member. The second light-shielding member includes a second end portion connected to the third light-shielding member. The spacer is provided at a position overlapping the first end portion and the second end portion.

The first substrate is formed, between the sealant and an end portion of the display region, with a wall that partitions the liquid crystal into a portion on the display region side and a portion on the sealant side. A gap exists between the tip of the wall and the second substrate side. In the liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal portion that has been contaminated is restrained from moving into the display region.
