In case a frame data of the previous frame is still being written (YES at step SA4) at the time when the latest frame data is to be written, the latest frame data is set aside and a dummy counter is incremented by “1” at step SA9. Thereafter, when the frame data of the previous frame has been written (NO at step SA4), a dummy frame corresponding to the dummy counter is written on a recording medium at step SA11. A normal moving-image recording operation is continued by temporarily reducing a superficial frame rate in a reproduction, preventing temporal failure in an image recording process, whereby a user is allowed to set the upper limit of the recorded image quality to the high side.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a leakage diagnosis of an evaporative system in an internal combustion engine, and more particularly there is disclosed an evaporative system in which a more accurate leakage diagnosis can be effected using a change in the pressure in the evaporative system, and such a diagnosis method is also disclosed. The evaporative system includes a gauge line having a gauge valve, which gauge line branches off from an evaporative gas line or an evaporative gas purge line, and communicates with a point upstream of an engine throttle valve or with the ambient atmosphere, a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in the evaporative system, and a purge valve. A leakage diagnosis of this system is effected based on detected values of the pressure sensor obtained by opening and closing the purge valve and the gauge valve. Therefore, accurate results of the diagnosis can be obtained.

A state detector is provided for detecting the state of a gauge system comprising the gauge valve and the gauge pipe, and a correcting feature corrects the results of diagnosis by abnormality determination apparatus on the basis of the results of detection by the state detector.

    Abstract: This invention performs a diagnosis on the evaporative system in a short period of time by pulling down the evaporative system with a negative pressure of the intake manifold of the engine and by checking a change in the internal pressure of the evaporative system being pulled down. To realize this diagnosis, when introducing a negative pressure from the intake manifold, the pulldown rate is changed based on the internal pressure of the evaporative system. Because the pulldown rate is corrected and controlled during the diagnostic process, a preliminary process for the diagnosis can be eliminated, shortening the time required for the diagnosis. Further, this method allows the evaporative system to be diagnosed without being influenced by external factors such as atmospheric pressure, the internal volume of the evaporative system, the amount of evaporative gas generated, or presence or absence of leakage.
