  • Patent number: 10364770
Abstract: The vehicle is a hybrid vehicle capable of traveling using motive power of at least one of an engine and a motor generator. The vehicle includes: a fuel pump; an injection valve injecting fuel supplied from the fuel pump to the engine; a fuel pressure sensor detecting a supply pressure of the fuel generated by the fuel pump; and an engine ECU. The engine ECU performs a fuel pressure increasing process of increasing the supply pressure of the fuel generated by the fuel pump, and conducts a fault diagnosis of the fuel pressure sensor based on a value detected by the fuel pressure sensor during the fuel pressure increasing process. The engine ECU conducts the fault diagnosis of the fuel pressure sensor in a case where the engine is being stopped and a vehicle speed is higher than a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 10309286
Abstract: In a hybrid vehicle that includes an engine having a particulate matter removing filter configured to remove particulate matters in an exhaust system, when an increase in temperature of the particulate matter removing filter is requested in order to regenerate the particulate matter removing filter, dither control is executed to execute control such that an air-fuel ratio of the engine is repeated between a rich state and a lean state. Then, when the dither control is executed, control is executed such that the engine is operated at an operation point where the increase in temperature of the particulate matter removing filter is promoted among operation points where power output from the engine is retainable.

  • Patent number: 9827845
Abstract: A grille shutter is a device configured to adjust a temperature of coolant water of an engine by adjusting an amount of outside air introduced into a radiator of the engine. An ECU performs a failure diagnosis for the engine based on a temperature of coolant water of the engine. When the grille shutter is immovable in an opened state of the grille shutter regardless of an operating command to the grille shutter, the ECU renders the failure diagnosis process for the thermostat valve not to be executed. As a result, an incorrect operation of various controls executed based on a temperature of coolant water of the engine can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 9822739
Abstract: In a vehicle provided with an engine, an EGR cooler for cooling EGR gas recirculated from an exhaust channel of the engine to an intake channel thereof by using a coolant, an electric pump for supplying the coolant to the EGR cooler, and a gas temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the EGR gas temperature at the downstream of the EGR cooler, an ECU acquires a first gas temperature in a normally stable state where the electric pump is rotating, thereafter performs a coolant amount suppressing process to suppress the rotational speed of the electric pump, acquires a second gas temperature in a suppressed stable state after a predefined time has elapsed from the start of the coolant amount suppressing process, and determines that the EGR cooler is abnormal if a difference between the first gas temperature and the second gas temperature is less than a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9664166
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a port injection valve and a feed pump that pressurizes the fuel. An engine ECU performs a stuck abnormality diagnosis of the fuel pressure sensor based on detection values of the fuel pressure sensor in first processing and second processing. The first processing includes setting a target pressure of the fuel in the storage section to a first pressure, and detecting a pressure of the fuel with the fuel pressure sensor. The second processing includes setting the target pressure of the fuel in a low-pressure delivery pipe to a second pressure lower than the first pressure, and detecting a pressure of the fuel. The engine ECU causes the first processing to be performed in response to a start signal that starts an internal combustion engine, and causes the second processing to be performed subsequent to the first processing.

  • Publication number: 20160230693
Abstract: A vehicle includes a port injection valve injecting fuel supplied from a feed pump to engine, and a low-pressure fuel pressure sensor detecting fuel pressure P generated by the feed pump. When a fault diagnosis of the low-pressure fuel pressure sensor is to be conducted, an engine ECU increases fuel pressure P to a diagnosis pressure P2 higher than a normal control pressure P1. Based on whether the output of the low-pressure fuel pressure sensor at this time is a value representing diagnosis pressure P2, the engine ECU determines whether the low-pressure fuel pressure sensor has a fault. In the case where the increase of fuel pressure P to diagnosis pressure P2 has caused excessive fuel (rich air-fuel ratio), the engine ECU changes the engine operating point so that the rotational speed of the engine is decreased while keeping the engine output in order to increase the load ratio.
