Patent number: 8509943Abstract: A medium is transferred and loaded to a media tray provided with a media processing unit which is operable to perform information processing on the medium, by using a transfer arm of a media transfer mechanism. A distance from a surface of the medium loaded on the media tray to a reference position of the transfer arm is acquired. A difference between the acquired distance and a predetermined distance from a reference surface of the media tray to the reference position of the transfer arm is calculated. It is determined that a double transfer of the medium to the media tray occurs when the calculated difference is larger than a predetermined threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2012Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Kazuya Oshida

Patent number: 6474883Abstract: A printer has a roll paper housing for housing the recording paper roll, and an opening on its front side covered with a cover. The cover can be opened and closed by operating an operating lever attached to a movable-side paper feed mechanism section supported by a parallel linking mechanism. By pulling the operating lever toward this side of the printer, the movable-side paper feed mechanism section moves forward from a position above the roll paper housing while keeping the posture thereof. It is therefore possible to a sufficient space for charging the recording paper roll. The recording paper roll is charged, and the recoding sheet is drawn therefrom and passed above the movable-side paper feed mechanism section. In this state, by closing the cover by operating the operating lever, the movable-side paper feed mechanism section moves closer to a fixed-side paper feed mechanism section, thus automatically achieving the printable state in which the recording sheet is held between them.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Hideki Kawakami, Satoshi Iwaya, Kazuya Oshida
