  • Patent number: 5973411
Abstract: An antitheft apparatus for a motor vehicle can allow operation of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle to be started notwithstanding of decision of discrepancy in an engine start enabling signal ascribable to transient error in communication between a code collating means and an engine start decision means. An identification code stored in an engine key (1) is read out upon every starting of operation of the motor vehicle to be collated with a preset identification code to thereby make decision as to whether or not both of the identification codes coincide with each other. Upon decision of coincidence, the identification code as read out is affixed with a rolling code which is updated every time the engine of the motor vehicle is operated, to thereby generate an engine start enabling signal. Means are provided for sending the engine start enabling signal and for generating the rolling code. The rolling code as generated is sent to the rolling code adding means (30b).

  • Patent number: 5479349
Abstract: A cruise control apparatus for a vehicle can control an automatic transmission such that gear shifting is carried out in accordance with a running resistance of the vehicle while taking account of the slope of a road and the weight of the vehicle, thereby allowing proper and desired speed control. A speed deviation calculator 24 calculates, based on a speed signal and a target speed signal, a deviation between the target speed and the actual vehicle speed and generates a corresponding speed deviation signal. A control quantity calculator 25 calculates a control quantity Tn for controlling a driving force of the vehicle based on the acceleration signal and the speed deviation signal. A throttle valve actuator 11 drives the throttle valve 29 based on the control quantity Tn. A control quantity integrator 27 integrates the control quantity Tn with respect to time based on an output signal from a gear change determiner 26 to thereby simulate a change in the driving force of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5337237
Abstract: In a constant speed driving device in which an amount of control of a throttle actuator for driving a throttle valve is calculated by using a control constant so that an actual vehicle speed reaches an aimed vehicle speed, the control constant is changed according to parameters corresponding to the effective operation and non-effective operation of a pressure-charger. Thus, with the device, the constant speed driving operation is achieved suitably independently of the operating conditions of the pressure-charger.

  • Patent number: 5251138
Abstract: A cruise control apparatus for a vehicle includes an automatic transmission with a predetermined gear shift characteristic for automatically shifting a gear ratio based on a relationship between the speed of the vehicle and the opening degree of a throttle valve. The apparatus is able to prevent an unwanted gear shift in the automatic transmission during cruise control without requiring a throttle sensor output indicative of the opening degree of a throttle valve. A vehicle speed sensor senses the actual speed of the vehicle and generates a corresponding output signal. A cruise control instructor generates an instruction signal for instructing a specific one among various cruise control modes. A cruise controller performs cruise control on the vehicle based on the actual vehicle speed as sensed by a vehicle speed sensor and the output signal from the cruise control instructor.

  • Patent number: 5197564
Abstract: A cruise control apparatus for a vehicle is effective to prevent hunting in the vehicle speed and resultant shocks which are apt to occur when the vehicle is travelling on a down slope under cruise control. A cruise control unit is adapted to be actuated by a driver of the vehicle for automatically controlling the opening degree of a throttle valve so that the speed of the vehicle is maintained at a predetermined target speed. A fuel control unit controls the fuel supply to the vehicle engine such that the fuel supply is cut off when the throttle valve is moved to a fully closed or idling position thereof with the number of revolutions per minute of the engine being equal to or greater than a predetermined value during cruise control. In one aspect, the fuel cut-off is cancelled when the speed of the vehicle decreases below a predetermined lower limit for the target speed during cruise control, and at the same time, the cruise control is temporarily interrupted for a predetermined length of time.

  • Patent number: 5038879
Abstract: An improved fail-safe device for a motor vehicle speed governor of the type having a control system to switch a supply of power to an actuator ON and OFF for the control of the traveling speed of a motor vehicle to keep a constant speed. A latch is connected to power supply control circuit which controls the power supply to an actuator. The actuator actuates a throttle valve in an intake manifold of an engine for providing constant speed travel by turning the throttle valve ON and OFF in accordance with an output of the latch. The latch is set with a command signal and reset with a cancel signal or a reset signal. The resetting of the latch is executed if an absence of a watch dog signal is detected or a change of output generating status of the latch is detected under certain conditions. The state of the latch can be maintained if the conduction of a switching circuit for the actuator is detected regardless of a command signal to start up the constant speed traveling.

  • Patent number: 5019987
Abstract: A cruise control apparatus for a vehicle is disclosed which is highly reliable in operation and in which a target speed stored can be checked, and if there is any error in the stored target speed, cruise control is automatically inhibited or cancelled. In one embodiment, the vehicle speed sensed by a speed sensor is stored in a first area of a RAM as a first target speed and in a second area as a second target speed. A comparator compares the first target speed and the second target speed and outputs either one of the target speeds as a final target speed if the target speeds are equal to each other but outputs the lower one of the target speeds as the final target speed if there is disagreement therebetween. A cruise controller connected to receive the output of the comparator is adapted to be externally set into operation for controlling a throttle actuator in such a manner that a throttle valve is moved to a target degree of opening which corresponds to the final target speed.

  • Patent number: 4967357
Abstract: A constant speed holding apparatus which, once a vehicle speed is set, maintains the cruise of the vehicle at constant speed by both variable speed control and throttle control. The difference between the set speed and actual speed is detected during vehicle cruise, and if the difference is smaller than a predetermined minute value, the variable speed ratio at the time of the detection is maintained by a correction means so that any possible speed vibration due to mutual interference between variable speed control and throttle control is effectively prevented.
