  • Patent number: 6846586
Abstract: A fuel cell system is provided with a fuel cell supplied with air and fuel to generate electric power output, a main air-flow passage supplying the air to the fuel cell, an air treatment unit located in the main air-flow passage, a bypass flow passage connected to the main air-flow passage in parallel with the air treatment unit, and a flow-passage change-over valve executing a change-over between the main air-flow passage and the bypass flow passage and allowing the bypass flow passage to supply the air to the fuel cell during start-up operation until a predefined condition is established.

  • Patent number: 6635374
Abstract: The quantity of water supplied when injecting water from a water tank (22) into a duct (10) is adjusted by a water supply valve (11a) and air is taken in from the duct after water induction. The air is compressed by a compressor (7), and the delivered air from the compressor (7) is cooled by an after-cooler (13), the cooled air being supplied to a fuel cell (8). A control unit calculates a demanded quantity of water (Ry) for the fuel cell (8) based on the flow rate (R), the pressure (P) and the temperature (T) of the compressed air supplied to the fuel cell (8), and accordingly performs control of the water supply valve (11a) so as to achieve this quantity of demanded water (Ry).

  • Patent number: 6530753
Abstract: A Lysholm compressor is provided with a rotor 5 in which a spiral tooth groove 5a is formed in order to form a tooth groove space 7, the rotor 5 taking-in and compressing a fluid in the tooth groove space 7, a discharge port 9 which discharges fluid which is compressed by the rotor 5, a bypass path 11 which communicates the discharge port 9 and the tooth groove space 7, and an outlet portion 13 of the bypass path which faces the discharge port 9. The outlet portion 13 has a pipe shape which projects out into the discharge port 9. An outer peripheral portion of an end portion of the pipe-shaped bypass path outlet portion is tapered so as to become narrow toward a distal end.

  • Patent number: 6173690
Abstract: An in-cylinder direct-injection spark-ignition engine using at least a homogeneous combustion mode and a stratified combustion mode and equipped with a pentroof combustion chamber head having first and second shallow-angled surfaces, comprises intake valves disposed in the first shallow-angled surface, exhaust valves disposed in the second shallow-angled surface. A pair of substantially straight intake ports are formed in the cylinder head. A tumble-and-swirl control valve is disposed in a first intake port of the substantially straight intake ports for adjusting the amount of intake air passing through the first intake port.
