Publication number: 20060286949Abstract: A frequency sweeping receiver is provided for locating a target signal having the greatest strength of the signals received by the receiver. The receiver includes circuitry which performs a sweeping operation to receive a plurality of input signals, one at a time. The strength of the input signals is compared to a pre-determined threshold value to identify input signals to be captured. Upon identifying the input signals to be captured the sweeping operation is halted and data about the input signal is stored in memory. A decision circuit then identifies which of the captured signals has the greatest strength and identifies this signal as the target signal. Upon identifying the target signal, information regarding the target signal is stored in memory. The rate of said frequency sweeping is set to compensate for the delays inherent in the receiver filters, and signal detection circuitry, such to cause the received signal to be centered in the passband of the receiver upon the cessation of the frequency sweep.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2005Publication date: December 21, 2006Inventor: Kazuyoshi Imazeki

Patent number: 6535164Abstract: An each area automatic selection receiver of an emergency radio signal is an emergency broadcast receiver which enables current area code CAC to be updated automatically. This receiver is constituted in such a way that a GPS receiver obtains current position information by use of the satellite positioning system, then, a converter converts the current position information into an area code by use of a conversion table to write the area code into a code memory. For that reason, even though the receiver moves anywhere, contents of the code memory are always updated to an area code of an area of the movement destination automatically. Therefore, emergency broadcast of the area is always capable of being received correctly.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2001Date of Patent: March 18, 2003Assignee: General Research of Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Kazuyoshi Imazeki, Masaki Hiratsuka, Nobuaki Yokoyama

Patent number: 5661392Abstract: A device, which is adapted to be connected to an electronic apparatus, is capable of having a non-rechargeable battery pack or a rechargeable battery pack connected thereto. The battery packs supply a driving voltage to the electronic apparatus when connected to the device. The device can have an external power source attached thereto for energizing the electronic apparatus by a DC voltage, for disabling the driving voltage supplied by the battery packs and for supplying a charging voltage to the device and to the rechargeable battery pack. The device automatically discriminates between the rechargeable battery pack and the non-rechargeable battery pack so that the charging voltage from the external power source is only applied to the rechargeable battery pack and not to the non-rechargeable battery pack. The rechargeable battery pack includes a casing having a positive electrode and a negative electrode mounted thereon and a non-conductive insulating member which is connected to the casing.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1995Date of Patent: August 26, 1997Assignee: General Research of Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Kazuyoshi Imazeki

Patent number: 5396544Abstract: A telephone answering apparatus permits a called party to select between an automatic mode wherein a message is automatically played back to a caller without any action of the called party and a prenouncer mode wherein a message is played back to the caller when activated by the called party. The telephone answering apparatus includes a ring detector circuit connectable to an outside line and responsive to an incoming call on the outside line for producing a ring detected signal, a timer and driver circuit responsive to the ring detected signal for producing a playback signal and a manually actuatable answer switch. A mode switch capable of selecting one of the prenouncer mode and the automatic mode is connected to the timer and driver circuit, to the ring detector circuit and to the answer switch.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1993Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Assignee: General Research of Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Wayne Gilbert, Kazuyoshi Imazeki, Nobuaki Yokoyama

Patent number: 4797636Abstract: A radio receiver includes a noise blanking system comprising a switching circuit in the signal path which is responsive to a blanking signal for preventing passage of signals. A blanking signal producing circuit is in the signal path ahead of the switching circuit and is responsive to predetermined noise signals received by the radio receiver for producing the blanking signal. The receiver also includes an AGC circuit for producing a gain control signal and a signal strength meter coupled for response to the gain control signal. A linearity control system comprises a current controlling circuit responsive to a meter control signal for controlling the current flow through the meter so as to increase the range of linear response of the meter. A signalling circuit is coupled with the AGC circuit and with the current controlling circuit and is responsive to the gain control signal for producing the meter control signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1986Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignee: General Research of Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Kazuyoshi Imazeki, Nobuaki Yokoyama
