Patent number: 7637650Abstract: In a continuous mixer, a chamber formed in a barrel comprising a feed port for feeding raw material to be mixed on one end side and a discharge port for discharging mixed material on the other end side. A pair of screw provided in the chamber has a feed part for conveying raw material to be mixed which is fed through the feed port and a mixing part for mixing the raw material. The barrel is provided with a raw material discharge port for communicating the position corresponding to the feed part in the chamber to the outside of the barrel, and an opening/closing cover for freely opening and closing the raw material discharge port. The screw can be rotated reversibly. Even though large amounts of raw materials to be mixed may stay in the chamber due to an emergency stop, the raw materials can be easily discharged from the raw material discharge port.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2004Date of Patent: December 29, 2009Assignee: Kobe Steel, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Ueda, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Masahiko Kashiwa, Shoji Yasuda, Shin Hotani

Patent number: 7097345Abstract: A screw with a heat exchange function is rotatably fit in a barrel, and includes a heat exchange medium chamber located at a center section in the radial direction, running along the lengthwise direction. The chamber stores a heat exchange medium supply pipe supplying a heat exchange medium. The heat exchange medium supply pipe is constituted by split pipes split into two or more sections in the lengthwise direction. Pipe connection joints connect the split pipes with each other while securing such degrees of freedom so that these split pipes can move by predetermined quantity in the lengthwise direction and the radial direction. The screw enables to stably supply a heat exchange medium for a long period without fatigue fracture of a heat exchange medium supply pipe even if the screw is bent during mixing and extrusion of a raw material.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2004Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Assignee: Kobe Steel, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Ueda, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Masahiko Kashiwa, Shoji Yasuda, Shin Hotani

Patent number: 5855432Abstract: A method of eliminating gel contained in polymer, by efficiently plasticizing and melting the polymer supplied into a barrel with the stress in a rotor reduced, and next kneading the polymer with a rise in temperature of the polymer suppressed and a residence time of the polymer in the barrel increased. A continuous kneader for realizing this method is also provided. The gel eliminating method includes the first step of plasticizing and melting the polymer by using a first rotor having a given number of wings; and the second step of kneading the polymer after the first step by using a second rotor having a given number of wings fewer than the number of wings of the first rotor, so as to suppress a rise in temperature of the polymer and increase the volume of a kneading chamber to thereby increase a time period of residence of the polymer in the kneading chamber. The continuous kneader includes a rotor having the first rotor and the second rotor.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1996Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Kimio Inoue, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Tsugushi Fukui, Hiroshi Ueda, Yoshinori Kuroda

Patent number: 5590959Abstract: A continuous mixer in which the rotors used to mix the material are composed of a rotor shaft, and a plurality of rotor segments fitted onto said rotor shaft. The plurality of rotor segments can be removed from the shaft and replaced by rotor segments of differing specifications to produce a rotor of a different shape and specifications in accordance with any change in the kind of mixing conditions required.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Hiroshi Ueda, Tsugushi Fukui, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Hirofumi Kimura, Shoji Yasuda, Shin Hotani, Kimio Inoue, Ryota Minato, Yoshimitsu Tanaka, Katsunori Takahashi

Patent number: 5435713Abstract: An underwater pelletizing apparatus for realizing and stabilizing a pressure to press a cutting knife against a die plate, for preventing shaft vibration, and for decreasing wear of the cutting knife. The die plate and a water chamber casing are removably mounted at a thermoplastic material extrusion opening section; the cutting knife is disposed at the front of the die plate; a cutter shaft with the knife mounted at the forward end thereof is rotatably and axially movably supported in the water chamber casing and a shaft supporting housing to thereby move the cutter shaft forward and backward by means of a fluid pressure cylinder; and a locking means is provided for intermittently locking the axial movement of the cutter shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1993Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Nobuhiro Yamasaki, Shinichi Fukumizu, Masashi Konno, Osamu Ikeda, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Taiji Orimo, Hiroshi Ogasawara

Patent number: 5143448Abstract: A two-shaft continuous mixing apparatus includes a housing containing two rotors having substantially horizontally aligned centerlines and a material passage formed so as to communicate with a mixing chamber in which the rotors rotate, the material passage extending nearly horizontally from a discharge port of the mixing chamber. The material passage has an upper surface forming an edge with the mixing chamber, and a lower surface forming an edge with the mixing chamber. The material is thereby scraped off the edges and flows through the material passage as the rotors are rotated.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Hiroshi Ueda, Kazuyoshi Imuta, Hirofumi Kimura, Naoyuki Tashiro, Syouji Yasuda
