Patent number: 6403761Abstract: A method for recovering a polymer efficiently from a polymer solution obtained by a solution polymerization is provided. By means of a method for recovering a polymer comprising heating a polymer solution obtained by a solution polymerization indirectly in a pipe to evaporate a solvent while forming a gas-liquid mixed phase flow or a gas-liquid-solid mixed phase flow followed by supplying the mixture to a recovery tank under pressure or under reduced pressure to separate the polymer from the solvent, the polymer can efficiently be separated from the solvent without changing the physical characteristics or the chemical characteristics of the polymer. When recovering a polymer from a polymer solution having a high viscosity, an infusion of water or steam serves to reduce the viscosity of the polymer solution and also to increase the linear velocity of a gas, whereby preventing the occlusion of a pipe and facilitating the operation.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2001Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: JSR CorporationInventors: Nobuyasu Takami, Kazumi Uchimura, Kunio Yoshioka, Kazuyoshi Nakazawa

Patent number: 5290861Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition comprising (A) 75 to 99.8% by weight of a rubber-modified styrene thermoplastic resin, (B) 0.1 to 15% by weight of an aromatic polyester having an intrinsic viscosity in the range of 0.2 to 1.5 dl/g, and (C) 0.1 to 10% by weight of an aromatic polycarbonate. The resin composition provides a painted surface with a superior appearance when a paint is applied on its surface, while maintaining its good fluidity, high impact resistance, and excellent molding heat stability. It can be applied with particular advantage to bodies or chassis of automobiles and the like onto which a paint is coated.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1992Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Japan Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiko Noro, Munehiro Mitsui, Kazuyoshi Nakazawa, Tateki Furuyama

Patent number: 5106552Abstract: Polyolefin/polyester composite fibers having a low apparent Young's modulus and a filter element using the composite fibers are produced by subjecting a polyolefin as sheath component and a polyester as core component to composite spinning, stretching the resulting unstretched filaments to twice or more the original length at a temperature higher than the secondary transition point of the polyester by 20.degree. C. or higher and lower than the melting point of the polyolefin and annealing the stretched filaments at the above-mentioned temperature for 30 seconds or more, and having an apparent Young's modulus of 210 Kg/cm.sup.2 or less, and by winding up the above composite fibers on a core while heating the composite fibers to the melt-adhesion temperature of the sheath component, adjusting the void content to a desired one, followed by cooling and taking out the core.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1989Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: Chisso CorporationInventors: Shigeru Goi, Hideo Matsuda, Kazuyoshi Nakazawa

Patent number: 5075363Abstract: A matte thermoplastic resin composition consisting essentially of:(A) 70-97% by weight of a rubber-modified alkenyl a romatic thermoplastic resin and(B) 30-3% by weight of a graft copolymer as a high polymer modifier for matting, obtained by polymerizting an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an alkenyl aromatic compound, an alkenyl cyanide compound and other copolymerizable alkenyl monomer in the presence of a rubbery polymer latex, wherein the content of the ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid component in the graft copolymer (B) is 1-30% by weight and the content of the rubbery polymer in the graft copolymer (B) is 10-60% by weight. Said composition has an excellent matte effect especially when the rubbery polymer latex gives a percentage coagulation of 20% by weight or less based on the total solids of the latex when 15% by weight, based on the total solids, of methacrylic acid is added to the latex.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1988Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: Japan Synthetic Rubber Company, Ltd.Inventors: Yusuke Tsuda, Kengi Tagami, Kazuyoshi Nakazawa, Yuji Yamamoto
