Abstract: An orbiting scroll 2 is made of an alloy having a composition of 8-10% by weight of silicon, 2-5% by weight of copper, 0.5-0.8% by weight of magnesium, and remaining percentage of aluminum. The key slots 9 of the orbiting scroll 2 are coated with a layer of hard alumite impregnated by molybdenum disulfide to thereby provide the orbiting scroll 2 with sufficient mechanical strength to stand severe operating conditions and to drastically decrease the frictional abrasion of the key slots.

Abstract: A scroll compressor has a first scroll member and a second scroll member rotated in the same direction as the first scroll member. A limit plate is provided to limit an axial movement of one of the scroll members with respect to the other. A pressure chamber is formed between the limit plate and an end plate of the scroll member, and the pressure chamber is connected to a compression space formed by the two scroll members. A resilient sealing device is provided in the pressure chamber so that the sealing device is contacted with at least one of the limit plate and the end plate of the scroll member.

Abstract: A scroll compressor having a first scroll member and a second scroll member includes a discharge valve device for closing an opening of a discharge port in which the discharge opening is disposed in at least one of the first and second scroll members. The discharge valve device is configured so that it is effected by a centrifugal force during operation of the scroll compressor. The centrifugal force normally maintains the discharge valve device in an open position with respect to the discharge opening. Thus, the discharge valve device is not actuated by a pressure difference between the discharge opening and the high pressure chamber and the scroll members are not rotated in reverse when operation of the scroll compressor is stopped.

Abstract: There is provided a scroll compressor in which a plurality of compression spaces are formed by fixed and orbiting scroll members, each pair of which compression spaces are formed symmetrically with respect to the center thereof. A discharge port from which a fluid refrigerant compressed in the paired compression spaces is discharged is provided in the central portion of the end plate of the fixed scroll so that the center of the discharge port is communicated to the two compression spaces simultaneously.
