  • Publication number: 20040224566
Abstract: A misconnection-proof key comprises a substantially L-shaped block made of a hard metal including a short arm and a long arm intersecting with the short arm at right angles thereto. The long arm has at a substantially mid portion on its surface a removal preventing protrusion integrally formed therewith. A plurality of misconnection-proof keys thus constructed are used in a connector including an insulating block having a number of contacts, and a metal shell partly covering the insulating block on the side of contact portions of the contacts. The plurality of misconnection-proof keys are each inserted with the long arm into a slot formed at a predetermined position between the insulating block and the metal shell until the removal preventing protrusion is fitted in a removal preventing recess or aperture formed in the slot so that the short arm of the key extending outwardly of the slot.

  • Publication number: 20040152363
Abstract: A cable connecting structure for connecting a cable including cable cores each having a core conductor and a core sheath to an electrical connector in which the leading end of the cable is peeled to expose the core conductors of the cable cores and the exposed core conductors are connected to contacts of the electrical connector. A dielectric member having air contained therein is arranged to cover at least part of the exposed portions of the cable cores of the cable. With this construction, it is possible to restrain characteristic impedances at the exposed portions of the cable cores, which tend to become higher. Accordingly, a reduction can be achieved as much as possible in variances in characteristic impedance over the length of the cable including the exposed portions of the cable cores, thereby improving the transmission efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20030171029
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing and a required number of contacts held and fixed in the housing. The housing is provided with at least one projection on each of surfaces defining its thickness and is provided with a block formed integrally with or separately from the housing. The block is formed with a through-hole in its one flange portion, into which a fixing pin can be inserted, whereby the electrical connector is mounted on a panel in a floating manner. With this arrangement, the electrical connector can be simply and easily mounted on the panel without increasing manufacturing cost.

  • Publication number: 20030064625
Abstract: A multiconductor connector for high-speed transmission signal for connecting a plurality of paired cables includes an insulator plate having signal contacts on its upper and lower surfaces. The signal contacts are arranged in a row on each of the upper and lower surfaces to form pairs of the two signal contacts aligned with each other above and below across the insulator plate. The insulator plate has a thickness so determined that when a pair of terminal of each of the paired cables are exposed at their one ends by removing their insulating coverings and then fitted on the insulator plate without changing the initial spacing between the pair of terminals in a manner embracing the insulator plate by the pair of terminals on the upper and lower surfaces, the pair of terminals are electrically connected to a pair of the signal contacts on the upper and lower surfaces of the insulator plate. With this arrangement, good impedance characteristics at the one ends of the paired cables can be maintained.

  • Publication number: 20030060086
Abstract: A connector includes a block and a required number of contacts held and fixed in the block. A plate-shaped piece made of a heat resistant and electrically insulating material is fixed to the block on that side of the contacts to which conductors are connected. The plate-shaped piece is preferably formed with grooves with a predetermined interval on that surface of the piece on which the contacts are arranged. With this construction, it is possible to provide an improved connector which is able to prevent the block from being deformed due to heating in soldering and welding when connecting conductors, and is free from any defective connection and failed insulation without raising the manufacturing and operating cost.

  • Patent number: 6019632
Abstract: A mount of an electrical connector serves to firmly mount the connector on an electrical appliance. One connector body of the electrical connector is to be fixed to a circuit board of the electrical appliance and has a housing as its outer casing whose mating connector socket is positioned in and spaced the connector opening formed in a panel plate of the electrical appliance. The mount is constructed as a clamp holder made of a resin including a fitting portion to be fitted on the outer circumference of the housing of the connector body fixed to the circuit board. The fitting portion of the clamp holder is also to be fixed to the panel plate in the state of the fitting portion being fitted on the outer circumference of the housing of the connector body so that the clamp holder made of the resin, the housing of the connector body and the panel plate are integrally fixed to one another.

  • Patent number: 5957737
Abstract: A connection portion of a contact for use in an electrical connector or the like. The connection portion is in the form of a substantially U-shaped groove, to which is connected an exposed conductor of an electric wire. The connection portion includes on both sides bending pieces forming the walls of the U-shaped groove and asymmetrically arranged. With this construction, a relatively deep and wide groove of the connection portion is obtained even if the contact itself is small.

  • Patent number: 5303466
Abstract: A surface mounting method for mounting an electronic part having a great number of contacts onto a circuit board. A jig provided with dummy contacts is prepared whose size, number and arrangement are substantially the same as those of contacts of an electronic part to be mounted on a circuit board. The dummy contacts of the jig are then fitted with mating contacts which are to be fitted with the contacts of the electronic part. Thereafter, the jig provided with the dummy contacts fitted with the mating contacts is mounted onto the circuit board at a predetermined position thereon. The mating contacts are then mounted and fixed onto the circuit board. The jig is then removed from the circuit board. The contacts of the electronic part are then fitted with the mating contacts fixed to the circuit board. As an alternative, double ended socket contact members are prepared, each having socket contacts on both ends.
