  • Publication number: 20030012451
Abstract: An image processing apparatus for processing a subject image signal obtained from a sensor has a first shading data generator, a second shading data generator, and a removal unit. The first shading data generator generates shading data from image signals obtained from at least two portions within the image signal obtained from the sensor. The second shading data generator generates shading data for the remaining portion of the sensor based on the shading data generated by the first shading data generator. The removal unit removes the shading data generated by the second shading data generator from the subject image signal of the remaining portion of the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20020030674
Abstract: Disclosed is a construction that protects an image display screen from degradation and image burn-in. In particular, when images are not displayed over the entire screen by an image display element that performs binary display in an area (see reference symbol B2) where no images are displayed, dark display is continuously performed. When only dark display is performed in this area, this results in the image display screen suffering from degradation and image burn-in. With the present invention, however, image reversal is cyclically performed for a very short time period, thereby protecting the image display screen from the degradation and image burn-in.

  • Publication number: 20020008850
Abstract: The present invention provides a projection apparatus utilizing plural light sources, in which the light source principally irradiating the light valve is switched by moving the relative position between the plural light sources and the mirror for guiding the lights outputted from such light source to the light valve. Also the configuration can be simplified by using commonly the light condensing device for the plural light sources.

  • Publication number: 20010055081
Abstract: A construction is adopted to switch or change image qualities of a full color image as needed such that two flat round color filter plates are arranged so as to overlap each other in part and so as to be selectively rotationally driven. Further, these color filter plates and are set so that the color characteristics thereof are mutually different from each other. White light from a lamp is injected into an overlapping portion A of these color filter plates, but this white light is converted into light of each single color as the color filter plate is rotationally driven, and this light irradiates an image display element. At the image display element, an image is switched or changed in synchronization with the irradiation of the light in single colors; therefore, the image is recognized as a color image and the colors of a plurality of color images are mixed to be seen and recognized as a full color image.

  • Publication number: 20010050679
Abstract: A display control system includes multiple image signal sources and image display devices. At the time of performing control for displaying picture signals from the multiple signal sources connected on respective sending lines to respective multiple areas on screens of image display devices, image display attributes information for each display area is stored in a per-area display attributes information storing unit, and an identification number of input pictures is obtained by an input signal identification signal obtaining unit. Based on the obtained identification signals, display selection information for appropriating the picture signals to the multiple display areas is created at a display signal selecting unit. The stored image display attributes information and the created display selection information are notified to the multiple signal sources connected to the respective sending lines.

  • Patent number: 6072457
Abstract: A display and its driving method is provided in which the image signal can be input into a panel having a smaller number of rows than the number of scan lines for the image signal, without producing image distortion. For example, a signal of the PAL system having more rows is displayed on a display for the NTSC having less rows. The signal control is made such that an image signal is written in two rows at every horizontal scan, except for a particular image signal, but the particular image signal is written in one row. Normally, the image signal for every horizontal scan is written in two rows, but only a particular image signal for every horizontal scan is compressed and displayed in one row. Accordingly, the vertical resolution is not degraded, unlike the scan for thinning out the image signal.

  • Patent number: 5889503
Abstract: A signal processing circuit is disclosed in which the DC level of a signal having constant signal value periods during each of non-inverting periods and inverting periods can be correctly adjusted. The circuit has first and second sample-and-hold sections which perform sample-and-hold operations on the signal value which occurs during the constant signal value periods of the non-inverting and inverting periods. An averaging section averages the sample-and-hold values of the sample-and-hold sections. A feedback section compares the output value of the averaging section with a reference value and, upon comparison, feeds back the resulting value to the signal processing section. Also disclosed is a liquid crystal display apparatus using the above-described signal processing circuit.
