  • Patent number: 10070289
Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to client association for provisioning devices in a communication network. In some implementations, an association request to associate with a provisioning device is received by a device operating in a sniffer provisioning mode. The device sniffs traffic over a wireless communication channel by listening to the wireless communication channel and capturing traffic on the wireless communication channel in the sniffer provisioning mode. In response to receiving the association request, the device switches to an access point (AP) provisioning mode. An association response to the association request is transmitted by the device over the wireless communication channel. Connection information for establishing a connection with an external AP is received by the device. A connection with the external AP is established by the device based on the connection information.

  • Patent number: 9749844
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for provisioning devices for connection to a wireless network including an access point are provided. A first device receives a first beacon signal broadcasted by a second device. The first beacon signal includes first information indicating capabilities of the second device. The first device uses the first information to determine whether the second device is compatible with the access point. Based on a determination that the second device is compatible with the access point, the first device wirelessly transmits packets including provisioning information usable by the second device to attempt to connect to the wireless network. The first device receives one or more second beacon signals broadcasted by the second device. The one or more second beacon signals include second information indicating a status of the second device in connecting to the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 9301325
Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques and apparatuses for low-energy sensor wireless connection. In some aspects, a data transfer session is initiated between a wireless interface of a sensor and an access point of a wireless network. The wireless interface is then associated with the access point to establish a wireless network connection in accordance with a setting usable to establish the wireless network connection, and without having to scan for the access point to discover the setting. The wireless interface is then configured to communicate with the access point over the wireless network connection using an IP address, and without obtaining the IP address during the data transfer session. Data corresponding to an environmental condition surrounding the sensor is then transmitted to the access point over the wireless network connection. After the data is transmitted to the access point, the wireless interface is deactivated to terminate the data transfer session.
