The vertical drive circuit generates the control signals for line-sequentially driving the pixels and via the row signal lines. The vertical drive circuit includes a decode circuit that outputs a selection signal to the row selected according to an input address signal and outputs the selection signals according to the address signals input every horizontal scanning period in the line-sequential driving and generates a control signal based on the output selection signals.
