  • Publication number: 20040104391
Abstract: A chip-type light-emitting semiconductor device includes: a substrate 4; a blue LED 1 mounted on the substrate 4; and a luminescent layer 3 made of a mixture of yellow/yellowish phosphor particles 2 and a base material 13 (translucent resin). The yellow/yellowish phosphor particles 2 is a silicate phosphor which absorbs blue light emitted by the blue LED 1 to emit a fluorescence having a main emission peak in the wavelength range from 550 nm to 600 nm, inclusive, and which contains, as a main component, a compound expressed by the chemical formula: (Sr1−a1−b1−xBaa1Cab1Eux)2SiO4 (0≦a1≦0.3, 0≦b1≦0.8 and 0<x<1). The silicate phosphor particles disperse substantially evenly in the resin easily. As a result, excellent white light is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6195142
Abstract: The invention presents an organic electroluminescence element excellent in long-term durability and reliability, a manufacturing method excellent in mass producibility, and a display device using the organic electroluminescence element. Accordingly, to prevent growth of dark spots in the luminous layer by completely shutting off invasion of moisture or oxygen into an anode or an organic thin film layer, a shield material is adhered to an element by using low melting glass or low melting solder. To fuse the low melting glass or low melting solder used for this purposes, laser or ultrasonic wave is used. The surface of the element is sealed with a protective film in a film thickness of 3 microns to 30 microns, or a protective film composed of two-layer laminate film of insulating compound layer andmetal film. According to these inventions, a highly reliable organic electroluminescence element small in changes in the time course suchas growth of dark sports and lowering of luminance is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5822977
Abstract: The amount of generation of heat per unit time due to combustion reaction of particulate matter is suppressed, and is made lower than the amount of heat radiation per unit time. By doing so, an abrupt temperature rise called "ignition" is prevented, and a temperature gradient in a filter is made small, thereby preventing unduly-high temperatures from developing. Therefore, the cracking of the filter as well as damage of the filter due to melting can be perfectly prevented, thereby enhancing the reliability. To achieve this, the whole of the filter is heated in such a manner that a temperature rise rate is not more than 10.degree. C./minute when the temperature in the filter is in the range of between 400.degree. C. and 600.degree. C. In the case where the filter carries an oxidizing catalyst, the heating is effected in such a manner that the temperature rise rate is not more than 10.degree. C./minute in the range of between 200.degree. C. and 400.degree. C.
