  • Publication number: 20230305758
Abstract: According to a magnetic disk apparatus of one embodiment, threshold voltages of memory cell transistors of a flash memory are set to a first section for a first value or to a second section for a second value. The second section is on a lower voltage side than the first section. The controller performs bit inversion of second data held in a volatile memory and writes the second data onto the flash memory when a power loss occurs while the second data corresponds to third data in which a number of the first values is larger than that of the second values. The controller writes the second data onto the flash memory without bit inversion when a power loss occurs while the second data corresponds to fourth data. The fourth data is data in which a number of the first values is smaller than that of the second values.

  • Publication number: 20190286208
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a controller of a disc device writes data received from a host device to a disc via a cache area while power from an external power supply is supplied. In a case in which supply of the power from the external power supply is cut off, the controller saves content of a cache area in a nonvolatile memory using regenerative energy generated in a motor that rotates the disc. The controller increases or decreases a size of the cache area based on a temperature detected by a temperature sensor and a writing rate of the nonvolatile memory while the power from the external power supply is supplied.

  • Publication number: 20170024297
Abstract: A storage device according to the present embodiment is connected to a host device and includes a controller. The controller stores data from the host device in a non-volatile storage unit after storing the data in a cache memory. The controller backs up the data in the cache memory onto a non-volatile memory using an auxiliary power source when power loss occurs. Furthermore, the controller adjusts the set size of the cache memory based on the device temperature near the storage device and the writing speed at which data is written to the non-volatile memory.

  • Patent number: 8478918
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an interface comprises establishing a connection to a communicatee device, transmitting a connection maintenance signal to the communicatee device, and decreasing a maximum amplitude of the connection maintenance signal from a first amplitude, establishing a connection to the communicatee device again when communication is disabled, and transmitting the connection maintenance signal to the communicatee device, and setting the maximum amplitude of the connection maintenance signal to a second amplitude which is larger than the maximum value of the connection maintenance signal obtained when the communication is disabled by a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20120219049
Abstract: One embodiment provides a signal reception apparatus including: a reception module configured to receive a signal; a storing module configured to store information regarding a characteristic of the received signal; a determination module configured to read out the stored information and to determine a parameter value corresponding to the read-out information; a discrimination module configured to discriminate a noise contained in the signal, based on the signal and the determined parameter value; and an identification module configured to identify the noise contained in the signal, based on a discrimination result by the discrimination module.
