  • Patent number: 5568278
Abstract: An image data coding device includes a plurality of orthogonal transform circuits for subjecting a plurality of image data items divided into blocks to the orthogonal transform. A plurality of quantization circuits quantize the orthogonal transform outputs supplied from the plurality of orthogonal transform circuits for each frequency component. A plurality of variable length coding circuits subjects the quantized outputs supplied from the plurality of quantization circuits to the variable length coding process. A plurality of memory circuits store outputs of the plurality of variable length coding circuits in a bit-series configuration. An output circuit reads out bit-series data items stored in the plurality of memory circuits by turns, connecting the readout data items together and outputting the data for each byte.

  • Patent number: 5194864
Abstract: In a vector quantization method and apparatus of the invention, in the network learning step, learning is performed such that output units corresponding to the indexes of a plurality of code book vectors Yi are caused to ignite more as the output units are located nearer to an input vector. The search order is determined such that the code book vectors are searched in the order of the indexes corresponding to the decreasing magnitudes of ignition from the output units. In the strain calculation step, the strains between the code book vectors Yi selected in the determined order and the input vector X are calculated in units of dimensions. The current partial sum of strains is compared with the minimum stain. If the partial sum is larger than the minimum strain, the subsequent strain calculation is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4732237
Abstract: A splash lubricating device for a horizontal or inclined engine comprises an oil-spoon which is fixed to the connecting-rod of an engine having a cylinder installed on a crank case thereof horizontally or obliquely protrusively therefrom and which is provided with an oil-splash portion formed by bending laterally the lower end portion of the oil-spoon. And the oil-splash portion is turned forward by the connecting-rod along an elliptical orbit inclined forward and downward. The posture of the oil-splash portion is settled nearly parallel with an inrush angle thereof relative to the oil near an oil upper limit level in an oil pan in order to lessen the resistance put thereupon and also inclined forward and downward at a smaller angle than an outrush angle thereof relative to the oil near an oil lower limit level in order to attain good lubricating performance as well as lessen the resistance put thereupon.

  • Patent number: 4633824
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooling means for the squish part of an air cooling over head valve engine, comprising a fan disposed in front of said engine for generating cooling wind. A fan case is provided which covers the front side of the fan and engine. A wind tunnel is formed through the cylinder head of said engine near the squish area and is aligned so as to pass a cooling wind, generated by the fan, above the squish area. The engine is provided with an intake and exhaust ports opening at the front and rear surfaces of said cylinder head, respectively. In the lateral side of the wind tunnel, an intake or exhaust pipe is disposed laterally over the front space of the tunnel, so as to guide cooling wind blown up from the fan to the tunnel along its lower peripheral surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 4156409
Abstract: An engine crankcase has oppositely inclined surfaces thereon, to which cylinders equipped with cooling fins are attached, to form a V-shaped engine. The crankcase has a crankshaft rotatably mounted therein, the front end of which projects from the front of the crankcase and has a cooling fan mounted thereon, the fan being housed within a cover adapted to pass cooling air backwards over the cylinders. A cam shaft is mounted vertically above the crankshaft, and the two are connected by gears mounted at the front of the crankcase. The rear end of the V-shaped region between the cylinders is open to provide for the escape of foreign matter, and the engine is balanced by locating the governor and the lubricant pump within the rear end of the crankcase.

  • Patent number: 4100909
Abstract: A V-shaped, air-cooled engine has a lubricant pump located in the lower portion of the crankcase, and at least partly immersed in the engine lubricating oil so that oil is contained therein at all times. Lubricating oil is pumped to the cylinders through internal passages in the crankcase, and through annular passages between the valve push rods and their tubular housings. Lubricant return passages lead through the cooling fins provided on the cylinders, so that cooling air flowing over the cylinder fins serves to cool the lubricating oil.
