  • Publication number: 20070223427
Abstract: A terminal-type judging unit judges whether a terminal is a mobile terminal or a fixed terminal. For a connection with the fixed terminal, an acceptance judging unit and a scheduling unit convert a requested bandwidth into a first resource amount using a modulation scheme used at the time of receiving a bandwidth reservation request and reserve the first resource amount. For a connection with the mobile terminal, the acceptance judging unit and the scheduling unit convert a requested bandwidth into a second resource amount using the slowest modulation scheme and reserve the second resource amount. If a higher-speed modulation scheme is usable for the connection with the mobile terminal, the scheduling unit assigns a difference between a resource amount for using the higher-speed modulation scheme and the second resource amount, to a best-effort-type connection.

  • Publication number: 20070047508
Abstract: To achieve end-to-end quality guarantee in regard to communication with a mobile terminal (node) in a carrier network in which Mobile IP is presupposed, in an IP network, quality guarantee is realized by performing network resource reservation in a resource reservation server receiving a resource reservation request from a node. The resource reservation server receives the resource reservation request, and decides whether the node initiating the resource reservation request is a mobile node. When the above resource reservation request is initiated from the mobile node, resource reservation is performed for the route between the mobile node and the correspondent node via a mobility management server having a home address of the mobile node.

  • Publication number: 20040004967
Abstract: A technique to support mobile communication in an IP network in which a mobile node MN in communication with an access router detects change of a connection link, the mobile node MN sends another access router a change request regarding a first temporary address used prior to the movement of the mobile node MN based on the detected change, and a distribution router creates a cache memory in which the first temporary address is changed into a second temporary address used after the move and receives and forwards a packet destined for the first temporary address sent from a correspondent node CN to the second temporary address. Therefore, a mobile node on high-speed movement continues mobile communication and it is possible to improve efficiently use of network resources without change of an exiting network configuration and to realize data transmission/reception with less packet losses.

  • Publication number: 20030225892
Abstract: An old care-of address is assigned to a mobile node in the communication area of the old access router and the mobile node is communicating with a correspondent node. Immediately before the mobile node enters the communication area of a new access router, a binding update message is transmitted to a diverging point router. The diverging point router is a router device located in the node where a route from the correspondent node to the old access router and a route from the correspondent router to the new access router are diverged. The diverging point router transfers packets addressed to the old care-of address to the new care-of address assigned to the mobile node in the communication area of the new access router.

  • Publication number: 20030026241
Abstract: A gate node reports current position information of a mobile terminal managed by the gate node itself to a communicating edge node which routes a packet destined for the mobile terminal to the gate node. The communicating edge node carries out routing of the packet destined for the mobile terminal to a resident edge node based on the reported cache information in place of the gate node. This achieves high-speed handover and route optimization free from a limitation to a packet transfer route in a packet communication system.

  • Publication number: 20020186679
Abstract: In a mobile node supporting router connected to a network on which a Mobile IPv4/v6 operates, an encapsulating cache stores binding information of a mobile node, and a processor encapsulates a packet addressed to the mobile node with a care-of address included in the binding information at a foreign link interface. Also, the processor receives a binding demand packet from the mobile node, and stores the binding information included in the binding demand packet in the encapsulating cache. Furthermore, the processor of the foreign link interface exchanges mobile IP messages instead of a home agent of the mobile node, and the cache stores the binding information of the mobile node included in the message.
