  • Patent number: 4722307
Abstract: An intake system for an electronic control fuel injection system for a double overhead camshaft type internal combustion engine. The intake system has a surge tank connected via a connection pipe to a throttle body in which a throttle valve is arranged. A recess is formed between a cover for the intake camshaft and a cover for the exhaust camshaft. The throttle body is at least partially arranged in the recess.

  • Patent number: 4176639
Abstract: An evaporative emission system for an engine includes a float chamber of a carburetor connected to a charcoal canister via an inlet port and an outlet port. The emission system is characterized in that an electromagnetic opening and closing mechanism for actuating a valve which selectively opens and closes the inlet port is controlled by a temperature-sensitive switch so that evaporation of low-boiling-point components of fuel and absorption thereof by the charcoal is prevented at low temperatures even in case of long periods during which the engine is not running. The starting characteristics of the engine are thus maintained.

  • Patent number: 4138978
Abstract: This application discloses a two-open-position choke valve control system comprising:A housing;A first diaphragm which is linked with a choke valve shaft;A second diaphragm;A prop rod arranged between said first and second diaphragms, the length of the rod being shorter than the distance between said first and second diaphragms during their release conditions;A stopper means which prevents said second diaphragm from moving toward said first diaphragm;A first chamber formed between said first and second diaphragms and communicating with an intake pipe at the downstream of a carburetor throttle valve, and;A second chamber formed outside of said second diaphragm and communicating with said intake pipe through a device for detecting the driving conditions of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4112888
Abstract: An ignition timing controller for a gasoline engine on an automobile or the like. The apparatus comprises a thermo sensor actuated in response to variation in an engine cooling water temperature and a negative pressure delay valve. The thermo sensor has a first port connected to an advancer port opening to a carburetor and located near a throttle valve, a second port connected to an advance control port opening into the carburetor and located above the advancer port and a third port connected to a negative pressure chamber of a vacuum advancer. When the water temperature is at a predetermined value or lower, the first and third ports of the thermo sensor are connected with each other through the interior of the thermo sensor. When the water temperature becomes higher than the predetermined value, the first and second ports of the thermo sensor are connected with each other through the thermo sensor.

  • Patent number: 4091778
Abstract: An improvement in a vacuum advancer which controls the ignition timing of a gasoline engine responding to an engine load comprises a first pipe which is connected between a port in a wall of a carburetor adjacent a throttle valve and a diaphragm chamber of a distributor, a second pipe provided between another port in the wall of a carburetor adjacent the throttle valve and the first pipe, the second pipe being provided with a heat sensitive valve and a restricted orifice that make the second pipe communicable with the first pipe after the engine has been warmed. Thus the negative pressure therein escapes through the second pipe for said port in a wall of a carburetor adjacent the throttle valve so that the advance angle for the distributor becomes lagged, and the engine is prevented from overheat to the result that suppress generation of NO.sub.x in the exhaust.
