  • Patent number: 5404673
Abstract: A power window apparatus for carrying out a safety control operation when an object is caught in the window, which apparatus is capable of setting a safety control mode disabling region to within the required distance exactly. The power window apparatus includes a motor rotation sensor for sensing a state of rotation of the motor, and a window movement sensor for sensing the amount of movement of the window. The object-caught state is detected on the basis of the rotational rate of the motor, and the absolute position of the window is detected on the basis of the detected amount of movement of the window. The safety control mode is disabled in response to the detected absolute position of the window. A reference value for detecting the object-caught state may be varied as the window approaches its fully closed position.

  • Patent number: 5367827
Abstract: A power window device in which a drive pulley around which a wire to open and close a window is wound is disposed within a case of a power window drive section and a wire guide for guiding the wire is mounted on the case. The wire guide is composed of a first wire guide for guiding one end of the wire and a second wire guide for guiding the other end of the wire. The second wire guide is removably coupled to the first wire guide. A wire guide angle .theta..sub.0 between the wire guides can be changed merely by exchanging the second wire guide. Even when a different wire guide angle is required, the size of the component to be replaced can be reduced, as can the cost to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5351439
Abstract: A power window apparatus with a safety device capable of taking a safety measure when it detects the neck or hand of a passenger being caught in the window, which device can exactly detect such a dangerous state and take a reliable safety measure to correct for the same, irrespective of variations of ambient temperature. A temperature sensor provided which senses the temperature of the motor acting as a drive source for moving the window. This temperature is closely related to the ambient temperature. A reference value for the motor speed for detecting an object-caught state is altered according to the detected temperature, thereby providing exact detection of the object-caught state irrespective of temperature variations. Preferably, the power transmission for the window, the temperature sensor, and a controller structure are mounted on an inner side of a single housing.

  • Patent number: 4963794
Abstract: A vehicle cornering headlamp system in which the direction of illumination of the headlamps of an automobile are made to follow the actual direction of movement of the vehicle, except that the direction of illumination is returned to the straight-ahead direction more quickly than it is moved away therefrom, thereby more accurately following the usual eye movement of the driver. For this purpose, a control signal is generated which has a pulse width indicative of the steering angle but which has a variation characteristic with respect to steering angle which is larger when the steering wheel is turned back towards the straight-ahead position than when the steering wheel is turned away from the straight-ahead position.

  • Patent number: 4943893
Abstract: An automotive illumination system with which, when steering the vehicle around a curve or corner, both the path along which the vehicle is to travel and the direction straight ahead of the vehicle are sufficiently illuminated. Four headlamps are provided. Two of the headlamps, preferably the outer two, have directions of illumination fixed in the straight-ahead direction of the vehicle. The other two headlamps have directions of illumination which are controlled in accordance with the steering angle of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4908560
Abstract: In a vehicle cornering lamp system, a control signal having a pulse width corresponding to a steering angle is periodically produced, and the amount of position shift between the actual direction of illumination of the headlamps and the target direction of illumination determined from the steering angle is detected according to the control signal thus produced. An electric motor is driven to change the direction of illumination of the headlamps so that the amount of position shift becomes zero, that is, the direction of illumination of the headlamps is linearly changed with the electric motor while following the steering angle.

  • Patent number: 4733333
Abstract: A cornering lamp system for a vehicle which changes direction of the headlamps in conjunction with the operation of the vehicle's steering mechanism. The headlamps are moved in discrete steps by use of a stepper motor. The headlamps move in the direction which the vehicle is turning, and the headlamp closest to the center of rotation moves prior to the headlamp further from the center of rotation. A delay circuit causes the headlamps to move a predetermined period of time after the direction of the steering wheel is changed.
