  • Patent number: 5619237
Abstract: A replaceable tank for an ink cartridge used in a bubble jet printer comprises a container formed by side walls, top and bottom walls connected to the side walls. At least one ink supply port is provided in the bottom wall of the container and is disposed for supplying ink from at least one ink chamber in the container into a corresponding ink tapping pipe in the ink cartridge. The container includes a locking member on one of the container side walls for engaging a guide groove in the cartridge, the container being configured for insertion into an open top of an ink tank holder formed by the cartridge, with the bottom wall of the container facing downward and the side walls of the container aligned with side walls of the ink cartridge. The locking member is constructed for securing the container in place in the ink tank holder with the ink supply port connecting with the corresponding ink tapping pipe.

  • Patent number: 5608437
Abstract: An ink container includes a cylindrical member having a closed end and an opposite open end; and a flexible member covering the open end of the cylindrical member to define an ink containing portion. The flexible member has a bottom portion and a bent portion that is movable along an internal surface of the cylindrical member with consumption of the ink therein, wherein the bottom portion is less easily deformable than the bent portion and movement of the bent portion is irreversible.

  • Patent number: 5604523
Abstract: An air communicating hole and an opening circular in cross section are formed in the wall portions of the housing of the ink container. On the inner wall portion surrounding the opening is formed an ink inductive portion which is shaped in the form of an almost solid circular cylinder. The projected end of the ink inductive portion is provided with a cartridge filter as a first filter that forms a boundary with the porous material that works as an ink holding means. The ink inductive portion is virtually solid as a whole and has at least one fine hole formed in the solid portion in such a way that it extends longitudinally to communicate the opening to the interior of the housing where the porous material is installed. At the end of the solid portion of the ink inductive portion is formed a recess as a bubble removing means that removes air bubbles from ink being supplied to the ink jet recording head by retaining the bubbles in the recess.

  • Patent number: 5589862
Abstract: A liquid storing container employable for an ink jet recording apparatus includes a housing, a porous ink absorbing member received in the housing, and a first filter coming in contact with the ink absorbing member. The liquid storing container is detachably connected to an ink jet recording head having a second filter disposed in a liquid flow path thereof. The liquid storing container is constructed such that the volume between the first filter and the second filter, a size of each filter, a condition for compressively receiving the ink absorbing member in the housing, and an inner structure of the liquid storing container satisfactorily coincide with predetermined conditions.

  • Patent number: 5559542
Abstract: An ink jet head comprises an discharging element having discharging ports to discharge ink, ink passages conductively connected to the foregoing discharging ports, and exothermic elements giving thermal energy to ink distributed in the ink passages, and at least a part of such an element is covered with a silicone resin, the amount of low molecular siloxane content of which is 500 ppm or less. Thus, in a thermal jet recording head, the low molecular siloxane divergence is lowered in its process of hardening or after hardening to enable the reduction of the occurrence frequency of the abnormal ink foaming, contributing to the improvement of the reliability of the thermal jet recording head as well as to the improvement of the yield in its fabrication.

  • Patent number: 5504511
Abstract: An ink container which contains ink to be supplied to a recording head comprises a housing constituting the outer housing of the ink container; a shiftable member arranged in the housing to contain ink and at the same time, being shiftable as the ink is consumed; and a guide member provided with an ink supply outlet to supply ink to a recording head from the inside of the shiftable member which contains the ink, and an ink guide outlet arranged at the end of the guide member which is extended to the end portion on the side opposite to the end side where the ink supply outlet is provided for guiding the ink from the inside of the shiftable member. With the structure thus arranged, it is intended to implement an ink container suitable for a small-sized ink jet printer or the like, which has a high application efficiency for a quality printing without any possibility of ink leakage irrespective of the posture in which it is used.
