  • Patent number: 5529650
Abstract: Processes for the formation of flocked automotive molding members of the type adapted to border windshield and door windows are disclosed. The processes include coextrusion of a thermoplastic polymer and reactive hot melt adhesive in a common die orifice or head onto a profiled metal strip. The hot melt provides an adhesive layer for subsequent flock adherence to the thermoplastic polymer. The hot melt is moisture curable, thereby eliminating need for a curing oven or the like downstream from the flocking station.
