  • Patent number: 7886568
Abstract: In a rolling step of feeding an electrode hoop (1) having electrode mixture layers (3a, 3b) formed on both sides of a band-shaped core (2) made of a metal thin plate to between a pair of mill rolls (8a, 8b) for rolling, the electrode hoop (1) is fed so that side a is wound about one of the mill rolls if the electrode mixture layers (3a, 3b) of the electrode hoop (1) have different average thicknesses, where the side a is one of the electrode mixture layers of the electrode hoop (1) having the smaller average thickness and side b is the other. This realizes a method for rolling an electrode hoop capable of making a rolled flat electrode even if the electrode mixture layers on both sides of the core have respective different thicknesses.

  • Publication number: 20090202707
Abstract: A method for applying electrode mixture paste in which a strip of core material (1) made of porous metal sheet is driven to run along its lengthwise direction, is turned around part of the outer surface of a roll (8) immersed in the electrode mixture paste (6), and is driven forward by rotating the roll (8) so that the paste (6) is applied on both sides of the core material (1), after which the coating thickness of the paste (6) is adjusted and the coated paste (6) is dried. The roll (8) is formed with grooves (16) in the outer surface extending along the rotating direction so that the electrode mixture paste (6) that has entered between the outer surface of the roll (8) and the core material (1) is smoothly released, whereby the core material (1) is prevented from meandering and deterioration of coating precision is avoided. The invention thus realizes a method for applying electrode mixture paste that avoids deterioration of coating precision even when the paste has a high viscosity.

  • Publication number: 20090011121
Abstract: An electrode mixture paste application method includes: a first step of unwinding a core material (2) wound in a coil shape; a second step of immersing the core material in an electrode mixture paste (5); a third step of adjusting an application amount of the electrode mixture paste; a fourth step of drying a paste-coated sheet (6) with the electrode mixture paste applied to the both sides thereof; and a fifth step of winding the paste-coated sheet in a coil shape, wherein a seam welding step for connecting coils of the core material to each other is provided between the first and second steps, wherein a metal containing molybdenum and/or tungsten is used as a welding electrode (91) in the seam welding step, and wherein a mechanism for air cooling by gas is provided. This can achieve a stable method for applying an electrode mixture paste in which apprehensions for micro short circuits and the like are eliminated and troubles in the step of welding core materials can be avoided.
