  • Publication number: 20020024541
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has an electrophotographic part for printing a monochromatic image and an ink jet part for printing a color image. A switch device selects to carry a sheet of paper which has been printed by the electrophotographic part directly to the external tray or to carry the sheet of paper through an intermediate tray to the ink jet part for printing a color image. Once the switch device selects to carry the sheet of paper to the ink jet part, the switch device is inhibited to discharge directly a sheet of paper on which an image is formed by the electrophotographic part. Thus, the order of the printed papers is kept the same as that of the original documents.

  • Patent number: 5699169
Abstract: In the electronic sort of a digital copying machine, image data of a document consisting of a plurality of sheets are read and compressed to bi-level data in a memory. The compressed image data are recovered to multi-level data successively. When a plurality of copies of the document are produced, the recovery action is repeated by the number of the copies. In a facsimile machine combined with a digital copying machine, bi-level image data for the automatic reduction transmission are recovered first to multi-level image data, and the density of the multi-level image data is changed for the reduction. Then, the multi-level data are converted to bi-level data for facsimile transmission. In a digital two-color copying machine, multi-level image data of the second color of the two colors to be recorded later has to be synchronized to those of the other in correspondence to the delay of the recording time between the two colors.

  • Patent number: 5608547
Abstract: In a shadow process mode, a scanner reads out an original with a first exposure lamp in a first scanning operation. The readout image data is stored in an image memory via an I/O control unit. In the second scanning operation, the scanner reads out the original with a second exposure lamp having an illumination direction different from that of the first exposure lamp. The image data read out in the second scanning operation and the data stored in the image memory are subtracted for each pixel by a subtractor. The difference thereof is compared with a predetermined value in a comparator. The compared result is output to a selector, whereby a desired image data is provided to a printer processing unit via the I/O control unit.

  • Patent number: 5583941
Abstract: In an image processor, a scramble device performs scramble processing to deform a document image by using scramble conditions by rearranging pixel data in the document image read by a reader. The scramble conditions are embedded in a hard copy of the document image subjected to the scramble processing in such a way that the scramble conditions cannot be easily seen by the naked eye. Thus, the scramble conditions are included in the hard copy. The hard copy is reproduced by using the scramble conditions restored from the hard copy. If a user desires, the scramble processing is performed not on a front page, but on the following pages. The scramble processing can be performed at different levels, and the scramble conditions include a level of scramble processing. Preferably, special marks can be registered, and a level of scramble processing is also registered for each of the marks.

  • Patent number: 5182638
Abstract: A digital color copying machine comprising a test mode is disclosed. In the test mode, image data corresponding to a partial area of an original document indicated is stored in a RAM, and thereafter, the image data stored in the RAM is read out repeatedly, and plural test images for which the color correction is made with different color balances respectively are formed as mosaic monitor images on a recording medium. Then, one of plural test images is selected, and a copy of document having a color balance of the selected test image is produced. The state of the selected color balance is displayed on a display section.

  • Patent number: 5119182
Abstract: There are disclosed an image forming apparatus such as a digital copying machine and an image forming method. In the image forming apparatus and method, there are transformed supplied reference color image data into plural sample image data having color tones stepwisely different from each other by multiplying the reference color image data one by one by supplied plural color adjustment coefficients, and then, there are recorded plural sample images corresponding to the plural sample image data on a piece of recording paper. When the operator selects one of the plural sample images, a controller alters the supplied reference color image data into another reference color image data responsive to color adjustment coefficients of the selected one of the plural sample images.

  • Patent number: 4979031
Abstract: A digital color copying machine including a mosaic monitor mode is disclosed. In the mosaic monitor mode, image data corresponding to a partial area of an original document is stored in a RAM. The image data is then read repeatedly from the RAM and a plurality of images of the partial area which have been subjected to different color adjustments are formed on a recording medium, so as to form a mosaic monitor image. The operator may then choose a desired color adjustment from the plurality of color adjusted images. Also, an operator may vary a parameter in the color adjustment process to obtain either greater or more minute color adjustments.
