  • Patent number: 5965230
Abstract: A blank for magnetic hard disk and a method for producing the same are provided, characterized in that the attachment or adhesion of a blank of a disk shape to each other can be prevented when such blank is stacked together for disk annealing, thereby improving the productivity of magnetic hard disk, and that the damage of blank surface can be prevented during blanking. Firstly, an aluminium alloy plate is subjected to continuous surface washing process with an etching solution while winding off the aluminium alloy plate in a coil, whereby the oxide film on the surface of the aluminium alloy plate is removed to concurrently deposit insoluble smut on the surface. Then, the aluminium alloy plate after the washing process is pressed for blanking thereof into a blank of a disk shape.

  • Patent number: 5454604
Abstract: A vortex gasket for automotive exhaust system, preferably used with a special flange having a conical seal surface, is formed by spirally overlaying a metal hoop (2) of flat strip, and an inorganic filler (3) of tape form, and annularly spot welding a winding start portion (2a) and a winding end portion (2b) of the hoop (2) to itself. The tape form of the inorganic filler is wider than the flat strip of the metal hoop so that edges of the inorganic filler form seal contact surfaces spaced beyond edges of the metal hoop. When an external force is applied in the axial direction, slipping occurs between the hoop (2) and the filler (3), and the gasket is telescopically deformed in the axial direction, so that the seal contact surfaces 1a, 1b, at sides of the gasket, are formed in a conical shape.

  • Patent number: 5308090
Abstract: A spiral wound gasket having an annular body serving as a centering member which is integrally disposed at the inner periphery side of a gasket body formed by winding, in the form of a spiral. The gasket body comprises a metal hoop material and a filler material overlapping each other. When this gasket is disposed at fit-joint-type pipe connection portions of the exhaust pipe system in a motor vehicle, the annular body serves as a centering member to prevent the gasket body from protruding into the fit joint. This prevents the gasket body from deterioration and damage, thus assuring a high sealing property for a long period of time. Further, merely by inserting and fitting the gasket, the gasket may be automatically aligned and positioned with respect to the fit joint. Further, the inner peripheral surface of the gasket body and the annular body form an annular closed space, thus making the entire gasket into a lightweight design.
