This is achieve by first alloying Si with an element selected from the group consisting of Al, B, P, Ge, Sn, Pb, Ni, Co, Mn, Mo, Cr, V, Cu, Fe, Ni, W, Ti, Zn, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and combinations thereof, and then eluting X from the resulting alloy.
